Knots2
It seriously makes streaming my media content from my lappie to be much easier than before. I'm using Ad-Hoc connection and the vids just streamed smoothly. Totally recommended

Just installed Tear 0.3.6 on my N810, and its just great. Even using the full facebook page is quite acceptable, something I never use before on any handleld
A must have for NIT users out there. * Which is only me and Eiraku here AFAIK Now I'm using N810 to browse more than my N8. Bigger screen sure makes lots of difference *Impatiently waiting for N9 now |

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Nov 27 2010, 03:30 AM) Great! LOL. Well, me no gamer on tablet. I have my NDS for that purpose. My killer app has to be Jagged Alliance 2. I mean, it's JA2 in my friggin pocket (even if it's modless) - fans of the game will understand the sheer lunacy of that very fact as previously the ONLY mobile way to play the game is by getting a netbook or a UMPC. And it's slightly better on the N810 compared to the N900 because of the larger screen IMHO. Haven't tried baldur's gate (GemRB) yet tho heh. That and Tear, even IF I need to use it with leafpad for long text entry because it locks up in LYN so much when I'm trying to reply to you guys. It's not as good as microB on the N900, but it's okay lah. Plan on setting up knots2 sooner or later, malas to play around with VLC on the computer side lol. For now I just manually re-encode everything to 400x272 mpeg 4 and stuff them into my MicroSD. Yup, seriously agreed with Tear, not as good as the N900 MicroB but IMHO, miles better than the default Symbian browser. But honestly, I never expect Tear to be this good, coz the outdated hardware it been running on. It just left me amazed For the locking up when replying on LYN, I've read on TMO that Tear have bug in the text entry field. It is prone to locking up when using the left button on the Dpad. I tried to minimize the usage of it. So far so good, no locking up yet, even after replying to lots of threads, and modifying my siggy. *and this reply was written directly from the browser Now really nid to stop playing with this beast, I have examination coming next week haih But I just can't let go of it, it just too addicting |

Although I do love my N810, An annoying bug started to creep up. And I didn't have enuff time now to actually hunt em up. Haih..
The bug I've found is in the FlipClock app. It doesn't play my alarm!! Dunno wat happen. Running it through the console revealed that there is a "stream not recognized" and another error I forget wat it is.. Tried multiple stuffs to remedy it. Using other mp3 files, erasing ID3 tags on it, even converting it to .wav, All of them not working. And I'm outta straw now..Considering downgrading to the old, python based one as a last resort now Anyone have a take on this? *Glancing at Eiraku n all the sifoos here Owh, N900 also have a version of this too. Really recommended. Maybe you will have better luck than me This post has been edited by zero_kbom: Nov 28 2010, 12:39 PM |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Dec 11 2010, 04:32 PM) You can buy N900 after 5 years there would still be a support from Maemo community. One of the quoted N810 user here Most of the Maemo based Internet Tablets depends on the community for the apps & updates. There are 2 N810 users here & there are pretty happy with their device eventhough it's an old device. Well lemme see, yup, I can't deny that this is a very old device, underpowered by today's standard and the lack of support from Nokia really frustrating But the community behind this really great, and thats IMHO brings out the true power of these devices Using this tablet watching anime streamed from my lappie using Knots2, Typing reports using Abiword, Web browsing using Tear, MicroB and Opera, all been a delight for me. Heck, I've browse more here than my Nokia N8 to be honest. And currently online using it too, all from the comfort of my bed Just remember one thing, "Its not technology, It's what you do with it". |
