QUOTE(lightastral @ Nov 25 2010, 10:23 PM) think most of the sifus/linux users know this already, just to add some info if anyone dont know it yet. should be ls -l (as in lower case L)two command in xterm/linux that is really useful. 1. ls - to list files in the directory. similar to dir in DOS. use this to check if your .deb is really in that folder before dpkg 2. up key in direction keypad - toggle latest command in command prompt similar to F3 in DOS. useful indeed. well, you can copy paste codes from the sifus/fp but then i find typing things makes you remember commands and makes you a better user. |

QUOTE(No0KieF @ Nov 26 2010, 12:45 AM) just wanted to recommend bluemaemo apps as i didnt see it on the list of recommended apps. try to put the username without the alias..eg : username = abcdownloaded it from extras-devel. what it does : acts as a mouse and keyboard ( among others ) to your pc, perfect for those who uses extra pc as their media centre. works well on win7 32 bit, havent tested it on other OSes. ------------------------edit -------------------------------------------------------------- and thanks for the 1st page of this v9. it is freaking resourceful. thanks a lot. and a question about "(1) (Howto) use MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger etc on the Nokia N900 " i followed what the video guides me through, but when i checked my yahoo messenger status, it always appear as "not signed in". what did i do wrong? or a much better question, what exactly the plugin does? is it the same as the skype one comes preinstalled ( always appear online )? thanks in advance or you could try installing Pidgin extra protocol. |

QUOTE(tabletennis @ Nov 26 2010, 12:17 PM) a weird thing just happened,i was browsing the net and the battery percentage is 80 percent...after half an hour it went to 6x percent...i disconnect the internet connection and leave the phone w/o touching it for 20 mins and suddenly the battery percentage showed 0 percent and the battery icon on the status bar went red...might it be my battery had spoiled? i've been experiencing this for a few times already after disconnecting the wifi, leave the phone for about 5 minutes, then check htop and look at the process which is taking the most CPU usage..see if you can reproduce the problem again.. |

seems like a very good news to me regarding the neopwn injection drivers..the developer (no, not neopwn), is going to release the standalone injection drivers soon..

here's the guide
http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-Autoinstaller but, if u want to partition the emmc (32GB), i'd suggest u do it using GParted..u will need to have linux machine (ubuntu/linuxmint/fedora) installed on your PC..or, you can do it the easy way, boot from GParted live cd.. here's the tutorial.. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=26629 i formatted my microSD using GParted live CD..i have yet to partition the eMMC internal memory..still waiting for uboot to be stable..i prefer to avoid multiboot though.. |

read my thread in tmo, under N900, i did ask for proper documentation for uboot, but the maintaner of uboot told that currently uboot is only configurable for dual boot btween maemo and meego..
but it doesnt mean that uboot cannot be configured for other kernel/os, it can..but u have to do it via hard way..and i mean really hard.. SEA, try experimenting with the tutorial i gave u about configuring uboot in pm..i know it wasnt so clear..but, that's the best i can help..i have yet to try it myself..as i am currently very bz.. sorry though.. last time i tried, it wasnt successful.. here's an advice..if letsay u often boot into other kernel such as power46,nitdroid, or meego..i'd suggest u use uboot..its hard..i knew that..i tried.. but if u dont boot into other kernel that often, u r better off with multiboot..like for example, booting into nitdroid once in 2 or 3 days..or other power kernel, so yeah..multiboot makes ur life easier.. unless u boot into nitdroid or other kernel twice a day, then i strongly advise u to try and configure until u manage to boot using uboot.. as u know, using multiboot too often will damage the NAND flash..unlike multiboot, uboot doesnt flash into other kernel/os, but rather, it LOADS the kernel/os from the specific path that u need to configure yourself...so it involves a lot of work and trial&error.. |

QUOTE(creative zn @ Dec 6 2010, 08:36 PM) bro, how you manage to keep your battery for 1 and 1/2 day? mine even cant last for 1 day. need to charge twice a day. hi..pls check your system system setting for full charge at 12am. and need to recharge again at 5pm when the battery is about 5%. i just use it for texting and surf i guess just for 30 minutes or less. 1. internet connections - make sure you choose "always ask" for "connect automatically setting" 2. Location - disable both GPS and Network Positioning 3. Always use 2G network instead of 3G when not using any data service QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Dec 6 2010, 11:23 PM) I'm using 3GB for NITDroid & leaving 4GB blank for MeeGo. hi..sorry..i've been away for awhile..been back to kl to penang..back to kl again..now in penang..hmm..my linux distro is in my PC in KL..so, i can only test the partitioning after 20th Dec.. =( i'm so sorry..can't help much right now as i only bring my laptop to penang..GParted should be the easier method because of the GUI support.I'll ask one1002 on how to use it properly(I'm old school fdisk loving guy) I may no longer using my class10 microSD for OS loading but I have no regret buying it. I'm using it to store songs & video files now.As I prove with the benchmark screenshot, this is card is very fast & more suitable for file storing purpose. last time my PC is in penang..then brought back to kl..then brought back to penang..last night brought back to kl..today, i forgot to bring back my pc.. |

meLi is using ubuntu running LXDE..yes it's smooth..however, you cannot view your files in Maemo if u are running those distros..eg: if u want to listen to mp3 in ubuntu, you will need to copy the mp3 from maemo, and paste it inside the ubuntu folder so that ubuntu can read it..
atm, ubuntu cannot read/view/execute files on maemo.. |
