there is good solid development of a portrait mode keyboard with full qwerty and t9 prediction based on fMMS.... there's a video of it too in maemo.org

i run offlne ovi without any problems. locking on in the car is fast though you can't search nor get directions but you can do that while planning beforehand... accuracy is above average but not as accurate as google maps. unfortunately, google maps requires internet connection...

wow... maemo community just officially announced the launch of community SSU! it's still EXTREMELY beta now but MohammadAG and others are working real hard to make it end-user valid enough for fixes in hildon-home even and other bugs in bugzilla...

after lurking around in maemo.org... so far, the only thing that was buzzed is that some apps CAN support portrait i.e. status menu and others... which isn't something new IMO because MohammadAG already did release a patch of that some time ago

after installing the CSSU,

I started getting 24 un-upgraded items when I try to run apt-get upgrade:



After that, trying to run apt-get dist-upgrade gives me this:



is this bad? how to work my way around this?

yeah... i've read that there is a lot of possibility to break something....

so, maybe just leave it as it is for the time being eh?

solved my problem. just installed manually one of those packages and everything merged and installed together

Apparently it just fixes a few minor glitches and packages that were held back in PR1.3

so far, not much changes

the one that looks really good is the CSSU.

THe phone feels so snappy and responsive. only modest seems to show some problems.

But both are still not that stable now.

I've been following it quite closely thanks to the interesting potential it could open up to... imagine, a lot of people are always wondering if or if not nokia will continue sending OTA updates and stuff right?

well... there's actually now a good developer and a few people in the community doing that instead! so, no NO support at all

i downloaded it already... the only thing that irks me is modest not sending attachments and images normally. but emails via text-only is still very plausible... something to do about the formatted text and modest recognising the packages sent or something like that..

wow... good question... tbh, never really thought about it...

when installing it, it prompts you to do a backup. so i guess restoring the back would automatically erase it...

I have titan's kernel. Tarak kacau langsung... the thing it does kacau is modest+attachments/pictures. sending text emails is a-ok. Also, some HDs are not compatible yet and you'll have to wait for the developers to come up with the new .debs for the modified HDs.... I used to use a modified HD with desaturation and it doesn't work now... unless I pin it or something like that which isn't familiar to me... so I ended opting not to have the modded HD instead because I just like the snappier response of the new community-pr

I definitely agree. we can't expect nokia to do much anymore (hope not) and looks like the developers in the maemo.org are more proactive in taking it to themselves to make maemo 5 better. hmmm... try restoring it again. your contacts and conversations during the time of the backup will be restored. any new messages or contacts added after that will be gone

well, if you have modded hd and don't wanna revoke that, better not install it because it DOES replace the HD. there are ways around it like the 9 desktops and desature(I'm using this one with the CSSU without any problems thanks to Reffyyyy).

But i don't think the HD is the biggest problem now.

THe issue with modest is more apparent

wanted to change the desaturation and blur values...

changed the values, killall hildon-desktop, rebooted phone...

no changes... why ah?

You mean transition control?

I tried putting blur to zero but it still blurs...

and i don't see any option for desaturation

finally managed to do some changes in transition... that is after the latest update of the cssu!!! BETTER MODS for the hd!

modest now is COMPLETELY normal
