tried also.. not work.. =.="

open up your device manager and check USB hub is there any error, try rescan the hardware device

plug N900 to PC and restart the PC see if it can detect it

remove all non important USB device, restart pc and see if can detect the phone

final try would be using another USB cable

what PSU you are using?

Just an opinion to improve this thread. For the sifu thats good in linux do provide a list of common codes you use in linux. Then in your tutorial remember to link the code back the the list of common codes that will help newbie or semi pro and even pro the remember the codes and a description purpose of the codes so people do not need to keep asking. Just my opinion to improve this thread.

my 2 cents and good luck.

+1 for that, I would say the search method use in this forum is poor, it can't pinpoint to the thread for certain keyword, setting up a blog or other personal forum by breaking up to related title is great for all user old and new where they can refresh the memory or search for answer before asking.

I am sure all the sifu are very frustrated being asked the same question, but on the other hand, it is crazy to re-read 100 pages of thread (not to mention previous old thread) to look for one answer, just my point of view blush.gif

Sifu,, u want i can help you with the wordpress..
I dont have much knowledge on CSS but what i have is lots of Un-used time
So i can do alot of reading and googling and helping you if you really want me to join
Cheers sifu laugh.gif

If you really got the time, I would suggest setting up a forum rather than using wordpress where private forum will have full control with it while wordpress got all the framework you need to follow, and I find the comment section is less impressive

For me forum is very easy to setup  but maintain its not easy. How many ppl set up how many suceed? handful. How many set up blog and how many succeed? Plenty. Blogs are not for comments its for solution. Comments are like for additional.

Just my opinion. If forum you need alot sifu keep it running. if not very fast ppl will get bored to visit
*
hm...we only wish for convenient, not on success. Someone must have rent webspace for personal use (in fact 100+ bucks for a year only), we can ask to share part of it's space for setting up forum rolleyes.gif

I got a forum myself running one man show, never wish for success, just for self satisfaction only laugh.gif

whatever the final decision, I only point out that search function in this forum is weak and unable to find answer easily, so, I just suggest for a better way wink.gif

N900 only have small community. There is no need for multiple forum for guides. If you want to ask or share something you can do so here.
Aside from this thread we always have our big bro - Maemo Talk.
Sure do, when I get my phone next month, I sure got lots of question coming up for installation guide brows.gif

I don't feel comfort asking in Maemo Talk sad.gif

isn't that gizmodo being stormed and dragged out by Apple?

if you watch the match, Indo defend like shit, 3-0 is fortunate for them already, if they play with premier league team, i would wage for 12-0

Test before you buy, at Amazon, you can't test it before purchase, it's their luck getting a bad phone, since N900 stop production already, I don't think Nokia really fix anything at all

For me i just plug in cable 1st....

then while pressing the "U" button...I press ON...Just dont let go of both button until u see the USB icon...

Then can start the CMD...
*
I think this is the part you reading right?

Step 7 Press and hold on the letter " U" key on your phone qwerty keyboard while powering up your phone.

I think the meaning of powering up your phone is the USB cable from PC will power up the phone, if you startup your phone, how you going to wipe the OS

it would be better if you off the phone, then plug in the cable while pressing U, wait until the link symbol comes out, it's pressing the U before plug in the cable
