You used fp's rootclear script?
There is some issues with the script,to be precise the symlink creation part

Use the following to reverse the script:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

FP will be updated this week.I already updated few things...More things will follow before this Friday.

You guys can suggest me what you want in FP

er...how about idiot guide to partition your Emmc/MicroSD/etc

thanks wub.gif
*
Yeah...There will two method of repartitioning in FP soon.sfdisk/fdisk method & GParted.

Actually I did take a long time to consider whether to include GParted or not because it'll require a linux machine & based from our discussions here I'm quite sure majority of you guys never even touched a linux pc/laptop.

eyes... doh.gif
There are bunch of things I want you to work on but you decided to spend time on this? doh.gif

S.E.A..you could add both GParted method and sfdisk method at FP..it's up to the users to pick which one they like, and feel most comfortable using it.. =)
*
I'm sure most of the users want ready made .deb app to partition.
I heard about Parted app but yet to try it.Doubt I'll try it also.

Anyway it'll be good some other users choose to be guinea pig in testing with their phone.
At least people like me won't have to brick our phone too many times.

And yes,I did thought of add both GParted & sfdisk method of repartition.I already added both at FP.
But for now GParted will be my official way of repartition.I'll recommend GParted method only in any further guide from me that'll need repartition.

i wanna ask is this dictionary application is applicable to n900 ?

*
From what can see it's a .jar file? (I don't understand chinese)
You can try some java emulator to make the app work.

Or you can wait for somebody to port some version of java to Maemo.Yesterday there was a guy in Maemo talk who managed to make JDownloader work in Maemo.Maybe he'll reveal how he did that so we can try other java program.

Tested long overdue Sygic 10.Installation don't have any problem.maybe because I dpkg the installation from terminal?
Anyway map loading also don't have much problem.

PR1.3 for which country version? global,USA,middle east or India?

Global.I'm very sure majority of the N900 users also flash to global firmware.

guys what is the best method to clear footfs ATM.

BTW also wat is the method you guys r using to clear cache w/o shutdown.
*
My previous method of rootclear cause Application Manager error.
Yet to figure out any other method of clearing root...

There are some method of restarting hildon home to refresh the memory from my experience it could cause from device to freeze.
It's better to just to restart.

Or better option is to make a auto reboot script like Eiraku did last time.

^what is rootfs?
*
Linux OS basically have following structure

/root/ - Operating system partition(In N900 case it's the 256MB NAND partition) & also store the boot file
swap - 768MB partition partition in the 32GB memory that acts as temporary RAM for OS
/home/ - 2GB partition that store your applications

MyDocs is the rest of the space.

Actually rootfs is the filesystem of the root.Josh_M was asking how to clear the root forextra space.

@Andy
Maybe because of the video resolution?

Don't have...I did have similar script last time but I don't see much use of the script because with the amount of modification I do with my phone it'll require manual reboot plenty of time anyway laugh.gif

Try PM Eiraku about the script.I forgot the exact codes for the script.

Good things should not be removed.

Anyway I'm running out space in FP.Maybe in next thread have to reserve more post.

@eilaz_niaz
Try reflashing you phone.Test whether it's still hanging.
If it's not then restore your applications & try using WiFi again. If the problem recur then it could an application problem.

What camera problem? Never kena one for as long as my N900 lived (which wasn't THAT long really). I know for a fact the iP4 camera got problem, as it has a White balance bug that makes fully white pictures warmish with a cold spot in the middle (the blue dot of doom).

Just got pseudo-OTG to work with the i. Needs a middleman for it to work though - my N810 lol. Had to tunnel through SSH, real fun, but it works nonetheless.

Yeah, as a sign of too much OC. That being said, I've never experienced this myself, all through the day my N900 died.
*
Actually not entirely OC-ing fault
Got other reasons which could cause camera failure like fcamera, missing file, messed with wrong file while hacking(happened to me just now) etc2

Anyway...Just had epic failure with mounting partitioned microSD.
My MyDocs & microSD refused to mount at all..
Just fixed the MyDocs, later have to fix the microSD grumble.gif

Today I felt my N900 working too smoothly(than usual) & I was wondering what are changes I did yesterday.
Looks like I accidentally pressed the OC shortcut doh.gif

2.6.35 on the #n900, got ofono working. @drunkdebugger what was it you wanted me to test ?

And there you go...

As I suspected earlier, adopting kernel 2.6.35 indeed does make the ofono work...

So you can can stop harping on this phone call stuff....Most probably there will be some kind of beta call function in 0.0.10

But I'm still with jananan.Time spend for developing the call function could better be spend to make other function work such as graphic acceleration. But eyes does seems to working in something interesting(not the electron beam effect doh.gif)

Anyone here using the Galieo XL battery? How is it?

I got one, used to last long but then after about 2 weeks it couldnt hold a charge longer than 3 hours. Changed a new one and now after 20% it will drop straight to 1%. Everytime at the same point.

Frustrated cause I payed RM50 for this shit lol
*
I've come to conclusion that it's useless changing to 3rd party battery in bid to extends the usage time.

It's better if you just modify the OS itself to extend the battery usage.Nowdays my phone can last for 2 days with moderate usage.I'm pretty happy with that.

QUOTE(mrfarhatadib89 @ Jan 13 2011, 09:36 PM)
ts, i thnk u should post commonly used
x-terminal command for quick respond
*
I've already list down the common commands in FP.There is also a webpage showing extra commands.
If you want to know other command you have to google or ask here.
No matter whether it's windows or linux there are infinite amount of command out there.I don't know everything & it's impossible to list everything down.

QUOTE(firstknight @ Jan 13 2011, 10:40 PM)
wat command that would be?? for joikuspot?
*
Custom kernel with JoikuSpot (Titan's for example)
CODE
root

To initiate the app/hotspot
CODE
modprobe JoikuSpot_Bouncer

End app/hotspot
CODE
modprobe -r JoikuSpot_Bouncer

I don't recommend you to use N900 as hotspot for too long because the battery will heat up.

QUOTE(dasonyeoh @ Jan 13 2011, 10:46 PM)

If anyone do that with my phone I'll give them 1 nice slap.

I'm using qucklaunch + my own .desktop shortcut

I'm still not impressed with these tablets...
Lets see why...
Desktop class webrowser - N900 have
Flash support in browser - N900 have.I know it's only 9.4 but you can still hack it play facebook/youtube video
Multitasking - Meh...From the preview of the video Maemo's multitasking seems to much more fluid.

Come on guys...For god sake you have TI OMAP 4XXX dual core processor + 1GB + dedicated graphic with graphic acceleration.
Surely you can do much better than this outdated old tablet called N900.

all of the icons will go to
usr/share/icons/hicolour/64x64/hildon

all of the .desktop files will go to
usr/share/applications/hildon

then, go to setting, scroll to the bottom, select quick launch..tap the first box, then type "default", select it..do the same with others..

then reboot..
