HI guys..
Im sorry if this has been stated before..
But i noticed that there is one gps software that is really good, and not have been mentioned here..
Im currently using a gps called Aura, from Sygic..
you can download it from Applanet.
And then the app will download any map you want. I have read a bout a 7 day trial period.. But i have been using this app for more than 7 days without any problems. (maybe because i did not register or go online when accessing the app)
The map for malaysia has tons of POIs, and it says on the website that its 73% percent complete.

Sorry if i posted something that has been mentioned.. Just thought i would share something..
And for those that are having trouble getting a gps lock..
here is how to fix that.. Now im getting gps locks under 10 seconds inside my house, and almost instantly when outside..

Press *#*#1472365#*#*. This will bring to GPS setting.
Settings -> Parameter Settings -> Address -> Server Type: 1x MPC
Settings -> Parameter Settings -> Position mode: option3
Settings -> Fix Request Settings -> Session Operation: Standalone
Settings -> Fix Request Settings -> Server Option: Local
gpsOne XTRA -> Xtra Enable: Enable

sorry to hear that a few people cant get their gps to lock fast with my settings..

you guys can try this..

Choose gpsOne XTRA
Choose Xtra Enable then choose ENABLE
Then click on TRIGGER DOWNLOAD 2~3 times
But please remember to do the 'TRIGGER DOWNLOAD' once a week because the downloaded file is only valid for a week.

After changing the settings, reboot your phone.

after the settings did you test the gps with your gps software?

try testing it in the GpsSetup2
Commands/get position/start gps

Yup works on any gps software..
Ive tried it on Aura, Papago and Waze..

Hey all.. I wanna share an app with everyone..
I noticed that it wasnt on the list, and it is a pretty neat app..
its called Hideitpro (get it from Applanet)

its an app to hide videos, pictures, music, or any file. So that only you can access them..
The app disguises itself as a "sound manager", and the only way to get to your files is by getting through the dummy software and then insert your passcode.. here are some images.. for those that needs to hide stuff from other people, this is a great app..

Sorry.. My mistake.. I meant to say "image" not screenshot.. However, i did find a screenshot app called "shootme", dont know if it works on G5, but it states that the phone needs to be rooted first..
If you own a rooted phone, u might want to check it out..

dont worry, with these settings, your using standalone gps, and not Assisted (which uses network), therefore you wont be charged while using your gps.

you don't really need to set up anything in order to access android market. can you access it under 3G? try performing a search..

too bad it didn't work for you.. try this.. turn on your gps and then reboot your phone.. or try the "trigger download" that I mentioned on my earlier post..

you need to have internet access when using the trigger download.. and if I'm not mistaken.. it doesn't really show a popup or anything.. so.. any luck?

have you tried getting a gps lock again? any inprovements in terms of lock speed? or is it still the same..

are you under wifi? because sometimes googe maps uses the network to determine ur location n not the gps. I have read somewhere that there is a slight problem with the gps of G5.. and some people find it that if you turn on ur gps, then reboot ur phone, ull get a faster lock..

yup.. no backlight..

yup.. no need to turn on ur 3G..

ya.. go with handscent, n u should try taking a look at smart keyboard while ur at it.. much better qwerty than stock..

sorry to hear it didn't work for you.. have u tried the reboot method? are u using a 3rd party app to power on ur gps? if yes, try turning it on manually using the settings in android..

just install handscent.. and then set it to default. then u might want to disable notifications on the stock sms app..

after I changed my settings, I didn't have any more problems with gps.. been using it with almost instant locks for a week now, even on rainy days it takes about 5-10 seconds.. ill try finding some other fixes for those that won't work with the settings I posted..
