Don't think so yet... so funny to see bulls are so fast to jump on this green shoots.  tongue.gif

Here's why:
A Labor Department analyst said weekly claims are volatile during the week between the Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving holidays. A key question is whether claims will remain this low in future weeks, or bounce back.

Also, US got better UE data tonight but Less than stellar Durable Goods data. Month to month has dropped 3.3%.  nod.gif

Very true...and a lot of 'burger-flipping' temporary jobs in retail will be created between now and end of the January Sales which will "massage" the jobless figures slightly the next month or so..IMHO.... hmm.gif

The problems of the US are systemic and Mr. Bernanke seems to be running out of ideas..... sweat.gif

1 & 2 should be outlined in your AGM circular. from my understanding , even if you have 1 share in the company, you are entitled to attend the AGM. can attend AGM means can vote, and can ask questions. but your vote power could differ it could be 1 person 1 vote or 1 share 1 vote.

#2 there is a book-closing date before the AGM date, so need to check in the circular about this.

#3 some got some don't have. but most usually will provide at least refreshments. some give diaries, F&B vouchers (if in a hotel), free parking waiver, tote bags maybe.. but thats about all i've received before. a lot of ppl just go for the freebies. doh.gif

#4 all depends on the book-closing date, anything u do before that date they'll take that info. after the closed the books you go sell the share you're still entitled to enter as a shareholder. worse come to worst you just walk away lo smile.gif

Very sound advice to the OP.
By the way, are you in UK now? I am thinking of some possible plays there. drool.gif

yes chief! in UK now biggrin.gif
i'll be honest with u. mine here's just lying idle in astrazeneca, some water company i cant rmbr the name , and i think stnd chartered.
they say there might be a pre-christmas rally? (apparently it's a tradition of some sort) so yeah... but apart from that the FT wrote 2 weeks ago that there's an overdue correction of about 5-10% that's about to come (based on historical price movements - every 8-10 weeks one correction), maybe this week is the mild correction they were expecting.

but the macro picture here is pretty grim. can feel it in the streets too sad.gif
i wish there was a forum like here where ppl share their experiences then that'll make things SO much easier laugh.gif

what are your plans/play for the FTSE? PLSPLSPLSPLSPLS let me know tongue.gif
*
I agree with you, actually. I just got back from Milan. I lived in Italy for 5 years and i could not believe how much the country has changed. Really scary what is going on in EU. icon_rolleyes.gif

When you see how the Irish politicians lied and lied and lied until they were forced by Merkel (who is also lying to the Germans) and the ECB.....WAH!!!
Very dangerous game IMHO.

I would not rely on any pre-Xmas rally in UK....but still some good stocks with decent divvies around.

PM me if interested or Motley Fool is a good forum - taken with a pinch of salt! icon_rolleyes.gif

P.S. Anyway investors can always rely on politicians to lie....that's a given.

uh guys, i need your input on this.

just got the edividend thingy from Lonbisc. asked my dad to check for me earlier. i'm overseas at the moment.

so the story is
i hold 4000 shares of Lonbisc, i'm supposed to get RM60 (1.5sen T.E)
the payment advice i received was

not in my name. (same surname though)
not to my bank. (they paid into Public Bank, while my nominated bank was Hong Leong, i don't even have Public Bank a/c)
not my bank a/c number..

then .. it's not even the amount of shares that I hold.
I bought 4000 shares, the letter i got was for 2000 shares (rm30 dividend)

so, conclusion,
I bought 4000 share, supposed to get RM60 to my HL account.
end up in the letter, it's not my name, it's not my bank account, it's not even the correct amount of shares.

just somehow the address was sent to my house.
now i clearly remember when i signed up for edividend at Hong Leong i checked it and even had my photostated IC in there.

so i just need u guys input. do I write to the registrar at Lonbisc to talk to them about this? or is it something to do with the CDS and/or HongLeong side?

thanks for your help. first time experiencing this. notworthy.gif icon_question.gif

Wah! that really takes the biscuit! tongue.gif

I would first check with your HL broker that they got your e-divvy details right when you registered. But, sounds to me that the problem may be with the Londbisc share registrar because they got the amount of your shareholding (and name) wrong. rclxub.gif

I had the same problem with WEIDA last year (pre e-divvy) and I tried to sort it out with Symphony Share Registrars - but it was like talking to a brick wall - they could not care less. So eventually I got my payment resolved by talking to the Investor Relations people at the company who got their FD to send me my divvy payment direct to my bank.... drool.gif

Legally, it is the company's responsibility to make the payment to you, if I am not mistaken..... wink.gif

Steel stocks on KLSE are to be avoided IMO as the BRIC countries have a much longer term strategy for their supply needs than some guy with a second-hand furnace in Klang or somewhere who produces pig-iron or low grade steel. hmm.gif

The real money is in high-grade alloys for advanced engineering applications and I do not see any counter in MY into this business yet. yawn.gif

================================================================================================

I'm surprised - after all the agressive 'ramping' on P&O Stock recently than no one has commented on their Q4 results brows.gif
Not bad performance and "audited"....just wonder if some other group will find P&O of interest...... hmm.gif

No divvy though.... unsure.gif

Think after CIMB become laggard stocks and with plantation rallying and some fridge stocks rallying together, most of us also beat KLCI like almost everyday. Some forumers can even have double digit % gain a day. Mine consider wet wet water already.
