Hi All,

Does anyone know how is the ceiling fan hook added to plaster ceiling?

I know for concrete ceiling, normally the contractor will drill and screw the hook onto the ceiling. What about for plaster ceiling which has a 8inch-1ft space/gap between the plaster ceiling and the hidden concrete ceiling?

Is the ceiling fan hook installed to plaster ceiling strong enough to hold a ceiling fan which weights 5-7kg over many years?

Thanks!
Lim

I saw in some houses where plaster ceiling is installed, the fan hook can be seen hanging out from the plaster ceiling. It is not 'embedded' or hidden inside the plaster ceiling as described. I wonder how the contractors do the fan hook like that?

Maybe they still drill and screw the fan to the concrete ceiling inside the plaster ceiling and have a very long fan hook (longer than the gap between plaster ceiling and concrete ceiling) and that's why it protude out from the plaster ceiling?

The actual way to do is, they need to put a solid wood on top of plaster ceiling, and use alunimium bar to fix the wood from your exiting celing, then the fan hock just install on the solid wood, when close up plaster ceiling, then u will still see the fan hock on the celing.

Hi Eleganz,

Yeah I think you are right. I ask someone and he said the same thing. Just wonder if this is really strong enough to hold fans which could weight near 10kg for those decorative ones with lights?
