The actual way to do is, they need to put a solid wood on top of plaster ceiling, and use alunimium bar to fix the wood from your exiting celing, then the fan hock just install on the solid wood, when close up plaster ceiling, then u will still see the fan hock on the celing.

Hi Eleganz,

Yeah I think you are right. I ask someone and he said the same thing. Just wonder if this is really strong enough to hold fans which could weight near 10kg for those decorative ones with lights?

If they doing in proper way, that will sure no problem, ask you may know some plaster ceiling price a cheap, because they using a simple way, which drill a ceiling, and screw the aluminium bar with plastic wall plug only, that 1 i not sure secure or not, but our way is using a older and a bit expensive type, which using a gun to shoot the nail to celing to fix the aluminium bar(not sure you know what i mean or not), which i think that is very much secure to hold only 10kg fan.

it is better to use the concrete slab as the support instead of plaster ceiling, even if adding solid wood. Solid wood can use to support light fittings or small chandelier.

for ceiling fan, better to use rawl plug or the hook drilled into concrete.

So, what if some1 house is full plaster ceiling, where is the ceiling fan should be install?
