just wondering if anyone has done this before. instead of getting a sliding metal grill or big glass doors, get a motorized drop down shutter. like those in the retail shops, but not the ugly metal ones. but i've seen some with square holes which look ok.
i guess if they can use for retail, it must be pretty strong?

not really practical.. do you aware that most of the retails shop only operate the door twice a day?

hmm......but if u get a motorized one, then u can just press a button and it'll close.
i tot this way u can get a clean doorway with no walls etc.

my friend's house is doing that since he doesnt want grille. I think it is nice, since it is hidden. But he still uses normal door. the shutter is for extra security.
it is kind of impractical if you totally not have a normal door. how r u going to go out? roll it up? it is quite slow.

ya, to me speed is an issue. u don't want to wait 30 seconds for the door to open and close, unless it's for security where u only do it twice a day.

it's actually for the big areas instead of using big windows/french doors etc. with the motor, its just one touch open/close. so its like u can have a very open concept...i guess maybe its not v popular ?

i think that if you use it as a grill _replacement_ you're fine. i.e. open in morning and close at night. for general entering during day a normal door is better (and also seals properly!)
