Hi guys, been reading through lots of topics here for pass couple of weeks but i am still undecided. perhaps you guys can give some view.

i am looking for a new tv mainly for movies (using hdmi media player) & gaming (ps3 & xbox). this set will not be connected to astro b'yond. i have a dedicated room for the setup about 13ft x 15ft and will be running the video feed and sound via avr.

i have narrow the choice to pana 50" v series, sony 46" ex400 or toshiba 47" zv.

the toshiba i understand is hard to find as it is at end of product life but it is cheaper than the pana and sony. the sony is in between with free bluray player and cashback at the moment but it is an entry level and screen is smallest. the pana - love pic and colour but concern about IR (when gaming), floating black and rising black. seriously how bad is it?

the room i have will not have reflection problem so plasma is ok for me. should i just push my budget up and go for >50" lcd tv? other than the above model any other you guys recommend for <5.5k? which samsung/LG should i check out?

thanks for any feedback

biggrin.gif ok i will heed your cium cium advise. i understand that size matters - that's why i favour the pana ......just worry on the floating & rising black issue. i think once i see it i will always look for it which would irritate me blink.gif

I support Pana. I had been using 50" pana since 1 year ago and still loving it.

You'll never go wrong with Sony biggrin.gif

The EX400 i believe is with motionflow, if yes by all means go with Sony, especially playing it with PS3, the remote are bravia-syncable.

for sony better go for Samsung....

Pana is OK but since PS3 is involved go for LCD never go for PLASMA

may have burn in since gaming contains static images

the ex400 do not have motionflow. motionflow kicks in at ex500. but i read you can't really see much diff between standard 60hz and 100z motionflow. i am wondering if i should just up my budget (and eat roti) and get the 55ex500 but it's >7k and not to mention maybe in 1-2yrs you can get that size for <5k.

darn if only plasma do not have IR issues biggrin.gif .......for me the pana 50" size and price fit into my budget.

HTPC is a pain connecting to Sony TV...

ok after scouting around i found 2 choices:
pana 50" v series and sony 55" ex500.

the bravia is cheaper by rm500! feature and picture wise pana wins but the bravia is 5" bigger. hmmm.

guys thank you for all the feedback. really appreciate it. i finally settled for the sony bravia 55ex500. price was good (i think) ..... <rm6k for brand new unit, can get on top of that cash back rm500, 2+1yr warranty and can opt for the sony pwp promo. no sony freebies though. i know it is product end clear stock sweat.gif but so far i am pretty happy with the pix. not as good as the pana v, but good for lcd biggrin.gif
