No idea about Baofeng, but some China made handies are as you said, slow in opening the squelch and causes problem in decoding the signal. What you can do to minimise them is to turn off any power saving features on the handies. I do know that 9W2SVT is using China made handy for his setup. So, not all having this problem.

Yes, as wirwaone advice, cut the stock antenna cable and solder it to your own choice of connector.

Can't do much with the stock antenna Especially when you're in Sg Buloh, even the reception inside my car pun macam **** .. haha.. but if you're in a very good reception area, okaylah. I bought a discone antenna with a wide band receiving frequency, from VHF up to 1900MHz.

Were you able to get the MCX to BNC connector? I am looking for one too now but seems to be non-existent online(locally).
I found a high quality adapter being sold on Element14 tho but it is RM 60 which is way over the top.

Thinking of just getting it from ebay but it would take 3 to 5 weeks for it to be delivered.

We did, last year when SKMM asking for a reply to a proposal, out of 10K hams in Malaysia, only a few that actually replied to the proposal and attended the meeting. Most of the 9W are happy to be on repeaters and simplex 2M.

For those who haven't check the FB lately, you should've realised by now that SKMM has announced that they're now allowing 40M band for class B license holders.

haha my license will expire end of this year. Thinking of renewing it some other year since I am in a tight budget.
Might be leaving the HAM scene for a while I guess until I feel like transmitting again.

Last HAM activity I would join would be the Fox Hunt in Melaka organized by MMU in December.
