QUOTE(aminpro @ Feb 28 2016, 01:40 AM) It is about the hobby haha Mostly talk with people. Some enjoy making their own antenna. Some enjoy doing stuff like RF hacking. Some likes to just meet up with fellow HAMs for makan2. For me, I mostly do RF hacking which involves scanning the air for traffic including decoding digital transmissions. Perhaps you should start watching Youtube on HAM radio and see how you like it I want to start with cb antenna on mobile..perhaps can get the hf and connect to another country..have u do that?

Anyone here from Miri? Any exams held there? Might consider having ham radio license mainly for the ability to use UHF (433MHz) legally for RC plane flying

QUOTE(infrasonic @ Feb 27 2016, 08:01 PM) Hi, would like to know more about HAM radio.. What do you guys usually do with it? Just talk to other people with it? For me, I'm using it to explore new things related to the ham radio. Currently I'm into digital voice and voip linking via dv4mini dongle and wires-x using my Yaesu Fusion radio. I'm also starting up DMR too. Previously and still active, I have in my car, an APRS capable radio which I use it to share my location, send messages, receive weather data. On talking with others, I'm quite active in any field-days activities including Scout's JOTA field day, and in two weeks time, the KelantanDX field day. There are more than just talking in this hobby.

Might consider having ham radio license mainly for the ability to use UHF (433MHz) legally for RC plane flying For RC planes, the requirement is 433MHz but only limited to 0.1 watt. No need HAM license. For some reason SKMM thinks it is okay for people to play around 433 with 0.1 watt which is directly on top of Amateur band. Will my plane transmitter output interfere with other ham radio users?

That depends on the class of emission. 2. Chances are, HAM transmission are the ones who are going to interfere with your RC plane transmission since your transmission is weaker compared to 5 watt or 40 watt.

I want to achieve hf, which rig is affordable? You can survey Icom IC-718 (100 watt), Yaesu FT-450 (100 watt) or Xiegu X-108G (QRP 20 watt) 73 de 9W2CPY

Check your result, there is an expiry date for it. If you don't apply before that date, your result becomes invalid. I think it should be valid for 5 years since you passed.
