Almost finished on my rig setup. Done with wiring and all. At first I tot of buying the Diamond NR22L but then another customer there say MC101 already cukup bagus. Then I pikir2, the NR22L is also too damn tall. haha Ended up with the MC101. Going to finish the permanent mount inside the car and bring it to Penang trip!

For airband, you need to have an AM radio which can be tuned to the frequency used by the traffic controller. I would suggest to get yourself those TV dongle for around the same price you spent on that cheap radio but it needs a PC or smartphones to hear the transmission. More information on that tv dongle can be found here: http://www.rtl-sdr.com/

You would need a transistor radio. Those old ones with a mechanical tuning knob. Mind photograph the internals? Maybe I could find the components you need to tweak.

I've no idea if it will work, as said, even if you can extend the range for the radio to tune to, you still need to switch into AM modulation. Current cheap FM radio comes I guess in a single chip FM receiver.
On where to source RLT_SDR, I guess its cheaper to get it from ebay or you could try lowyat.

aminpro Try to make a CQ to 145.500 V40 if you want simplex, should people are monitoring the channel, then QSY to different channel.
I will also monitoring that freq, your QTH is actually near to my place.
SeanConnery No problem, I will be on both 9M2RKK and simplex V40

SeanConnery No problem, I will be on both 9M2RKK and simplex V40 Facepalm I've been calling on the wrong frequency for the past few weeks. I called on 144.500 instead of 145.500. I think the settings was accidentally changed. Btw, my callsign is 9W2LHX.

9M2RKK and 9M2RKL seem to be dead since early of the week. I believe both are sharing the same power source. Either the power supply went kaput or someone accidentally switch off the power.

I am mostly monitoring RAKL[9M4RZS] Often use 144.100 to 144.250 for my friends in Cyberjaya mainly because no congestion and also get a bit of privacy since nobody monitoring that channel.

Bang, lower frequency tu selalu nya untuk SSB, data and satellite communication. So, check the frequency that you use against the band plan given out by MCMC.

QUOTE(wiraone @ Apr 12 2015, 06:41 AM) Bang, lower frequency tu selalu nya untuk SSB, data and satellite communication. So, check the frequency that you use against the band plan given out by MCMC. I am aware that those range is for CW and SSB. If I understand the purpose of band plan correctly, it is to minimize mutual interference. I've monitored and there was zero activity on a particular frequency in my area. I am using and our transmission is limited to only 5 watt to avoid interrupting/over radiating interference to any CW/SSB activity within the band. QUOTE A band plan with regards to Amateur Radio service in Malaysia is voluntary plans established by SKMM If there was activity or evidence that the particular band is used for what the band plan recommended it to be used, I'd gladly cease operations and move up to a proper channel.
