Yes, my wish came true.
I had to QRT and clear from frequency because the bus came. I have so many things to say, just like talking to old friends.
Hope we can QSO again.

Haha, was on the way picking up my daughter from KLIA2 before driving back to my kampung. Was stuck in a jam at Elite hiway that time. Tried to answer you when you call on RKK but I believe my short antenna doesn't work well, need to get a better antenna. Anyway, good signal from RKL and I continued my conversation with 9W2NMX after that, testing the bluetooth interface between my ftm400dr and my sony headset.

If you're near Wangsa Maju, there will be few 9M2s at NZ Curryhouse in Wangsa Maju with the commissioner of oath too. You do not need to join any clubs/groups to be active in the hobby. Not intend to join any group like MARTS, MARES. thank you very much |

Well, there are many that are open early, especially those near the courts etc. Do you know that you can go to the magistrate to get it sign for free, but well, you need to wait in line lah. Do not rush thing out, take it easy.

Just want to optimized my 1/2 day leave so that I could finish everything before lunch, already done and pass those forms to SKMM Cyberjaya but being told that I need to wait for 3 working days, finger crossed that the preferred call-sign still can be obtained.

Wiraone,
9Ms are currently playing with 1.2Ghz APRS? If a new 9Ws want to explore about the HF (28Mhz - 29.7Mhz), is the Yaesu FT-857D a good one? any commercial HF antenna that I could buy? prefer to use hf magnetic loop antenna |

QUOTE(eddie_lim @ Aug 12 2014, 09:31 AM) Wiraone, Nope, APRS is on VHF & UHF for now. I believe only Sion has tried using 1.2GHz for EME communication using moon bounce. On the radio, yes, FT-857D is the most affordable all-in-one radio and suitable for starter. There are lot of commercial antenna out there but if footprint is not a problem with you, I would suggest to go for a YAGI, a single bander 10m YAGI can be DIY-ed or even the 10m delta loop will be okay. HF magnetic loop, only source will be direct importing from US and they're not cheap. BTW, if you're using a multi-band dipole or long wire, do remember to get yourself a tuner. 9Ms are currently playing with 1.2Ghz APRS? Hi Wiraone,This weekend, there will be an ILLW event, the nearest to KL will be at Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor run by MARES team. I "s**ks" at DIY, and I've been youtubing all the antennas, for 10m, "the state" people are using monopole antenna but I plan to put it on my rooftop, afraid kena lightning. I am also not very familiar with the 1/4 length wave, 1/2 length wave thingy etc, that's why I am asking for opinion. Maybe I will try to attend the event first before I go venture into the 10m. What would be the exact time/date and venue for the ILLW event? Btw, a stupid question, Is Malaysia affected by ionosphere radio propagation ? how far 10m can reach? Indonesia? Thailand? The event usually starts on Saturday and ended up on Sunday. I've no idea of their schedule though.
On the antenna, monopole is surely not good enough, or were you referring to monobander instead? If you've an FB account, search for my10mg group. It is pretty active group, discussion ranging from the station setup to upcoming events and such. My farthest to the north west on 10M were Wales and Germany. To the east, Japan and California. To the south, Australia and to the north, Russia and Ukraine. Depending on sun spot really. And yes, we are pretty much affected by the ionosphere everywhere on the earth. So propagation can be very much affected and they usually open up a wee hours in the morning and in the evening. This post has been edited by wiraone: Aug 12 2014, 10:14 AM |
