I've been back and forth with em on this.. called and scold.. recently they came up with a stupid thing that my package was still at 1mbps and not upgraded to 2mbps..
I tried to explain to the moron on the phone that it has nothing to do with the package on the speeds i am getting.. unless Streamyx started having 200kbps packages.
For a few times, I have already accused them of. "are you guys illegaly capping the speed?" The phone support guys flat out deny of course.. so guys remember their names etc.. if they finally admit they are doing it.. we can bring it up they are lying.
I think the best thing for all of us to do, is to do a collective SKMM complaint and also bring up that they are flat out denying the fact they are controlling the speed.

not true, there have been cases where SKMM actually get things done.

isn't it better to make some noise and get the chance it will work.. then to do just sit down and do nothing? (seeing as the whole process of complaining is easy and can be done from the comfort of your chair)

From the way it slows down, it is too uniform to be whatever they are claiming. Everyday, the speed drops like clockwork.

Whoever thought of this method to control the usage is really a moron. How does this method even work? Every night, regardless of user usage, our net speeds are slow. Hellooo tmnuts, that is when most everybody is free to use the Internet.
My speed breakdown goes as such
2mbps (but according to the morons, even after i've upgraded from 1mbps for the past 6 months.. i am still at 1mbps .. so w/e)
morning starting from 5am - 8am
Speed is at 160KB/s (good I guess)
8am -9am
Speed starts to drop (about 100-110KB/s)
9am - 12pm (speed drop drops to about 70-80KB/s)
by 4pm (about 50KB/s)
by 7pm - 5am(20KB/s avg)
So that is most of the day where my speed is below their "guaranteed" 70%. How does their method (based on user accessing control) logical? Once reach 7pm plus my area cannot do anything.. Even loading their pathetic tm.net.my page takes a while.
They said they want to ensure everybody have a smooth Internet experience.. well frankly loading everything takes time (and I am not downloading anything).. watching a YouTube video is pointless.. I am getting timeouts accessing Facebook... soooo.. our Internet is to do what? go to MYEG?

QUOTE(Tentris @ Dec 2 2010, 02:37 PM) I got word from TM. They are investigating the cap now, and will likely rollback the traffic management program that is causing all the problem either tomorrow or Saturday. How stupid are they? Have they not run any feasibility analysis before implementing this? Got use brains to think or not? Or maybe it went something like "We have been allocated RMxxx, xxx, xxx, xxx to improve the service. How can we do it with only RM xxx so I can pocket the RM xxx,xxx,xxx,000 ?? .. GIMME A SOLUTION NAOOOOOOO!!"

QUOTE(satoshi.mifune @ Dec 2 2010, 02:45 PM) yes i do understand your frustration as we users just want our normal speeds back and the anger will subside but at the moment the problem won't be solved instantly when we yell and scream right, just need to persevere and hope for the best. I know, I know. But doesn't it just get at you? They try and do something like this without letting us know, hoping no one would notice. They are the only ones who can think of something like that and not notify their customers. I wonder if we can claim that their phone support has been lying to us all this while when they said have no cap. Added on December 2, 2010, 3:09 pmQUOTE(Stormy001_M1A2 @ Dec 2 2010, 03:08 PM) List of affected areas. I just want to see how widespread the cap is. Hi, I am in SS3.. I don't know if it is considered to be under Kelana Jaya. This post has been edited by tnsai: Dec 2 2010, 03:09 PM

QUOTE(satoshi.mifune @ Dec 2 2010, 05:27 PM) check in your router page under status for your downstream value if it's 2048 then give them a call telling them about this and they will inform the network department to change it to 4096 then your good to go Oh that is not all you should do. Months ago I upgraded to 2mpbs, modem shows 2048 downstream and have been getting 160KB/s downloads(which i thought was normal for crappy streamyx). During this whole fiasco when I first noticed the speed slow and reported it, they came and check and said(my account even though the port is open for 2mbps, it is still capped at 1mbps). There is some pending on the technician (for the past 6 months). So yeah better make sure.. I guess it is my own fault for underestimating streamyx (yeah i'm smoking crack).. then again, when i did the upgrade, they did call me personally and said the line is upgraded, so I guess some ass brained idiot did something wrong.

Wonder why this is not mentioned in any local media. I think this is quite a serious thing on how they don't respect their customers enough to let them know they are doing this. Their technicians OBVIOUSLY lying about it.
