No wonder my d/l speed stuck at less than 5kbps when downloading from dell US site yesterday (when using 4mb a/c)....I have a 1mb a/c and logging in using that a/c gets me over 100kbps d/l speed downloading the same thing from the same server.....

I am gonna make the hell of a noise to TM CS now 

indeed, now only i know...i seldom visits broadband user2user topics.....i must come here more often then....

our ISP is so incompetent until dunno wht to say....new issues keep coming up...never ending.....how to progress....

So what's best course of action to take now to restore our a/c (lift the cap)?

Any success stories here to share??

After 40 pages not a single cowaard pick up the phone to compliant to TMNET, with all these stupid ppl how malaysia can improve and developed its all bcos all only knows how to talkcook in forum only

Please do not let the rant here satisfy you as it will not change anything. Read the first post and do something about it. File a complain or do whatever we can. I'm paying 4mbps speed for < 1Mbps only.

I know our effort might not mean anything in the end but at least we tried.

Mine was capped to <50kb.... but in the middle of the night till early morning (before i went to work) the speed was back to normal. CONFIRM capping... Stupid streamyx... if this continues I'll write to the papers. Who are they to cap international downloads... if I need it for work then how?

i don't think is capping is more like something screw up in TM server or there are doing something to their system.

Cause i saw TM hub nearby my house already got a team at there for few day already not sure what are there doing but i think it is related to current issue.

Even i call 100 the 1st msg i hear "there is maintenance at ur area" from computer.

Already lodge report hope to be fixed soon.

But if your download speed is 'capped' then everything is slow is it not?  Downloads are slow, but so is Skype, so is opening a webpage, so are newsgroups, so are online games - it is all downloading so it isn't just one specific thing (downloading), everything is slow.

why streamyx customer service tell me i should get atleast 70% of my 1mb

I don't mean the capping (after all this could be a response to what TM defines as abusive or against the user policy). It's in the T&C afterall.

However you look at it, for a fact, if the hoggers go away, everyone else in the network benefits. I'm coming from the view that downloading everything off the net (legal or otherwise) is not one's birthright or should be done, just because one can do so. Your views might differ of course, no harm, everyone has their opinions on life.

Like it or not, it's a shared resource (much like our roads), so please use it only when you need it. everyone will benefit. (this applies to everything in life, not just the Internet, which actually, should hardly be one's sole attention and focus in life).

Wel, if the heavy downloaders are the problem, then TM should cap the heavy downloaders right? Instead of a blanket capping of all users? I guess its easier to cap all rather than based by acount? Now even heavy downloaders cannot download "normal" stuf using direct download too.

It does appear that someone or some team / department in TM is doing what they want without informing users and even top people don't know? Lack of communication in a communication based company?

Does anyone know if Streamyx and Unifi use the same connections? I mean, does Unifi users have a different international link or bandwidth allotment separate from Streamyx users? Or all being shared?

yes.... i really really sure !! because i said using streamyx cant download my company email attachment file.
