YNWA carries a lot of meaning. We all feel like singing and hugging strangers when we win but it says something that it's sung even when the chips are down. It's nice when you hear the fans singing when you are winning but it's motivating to hear them sing when you aren't. Half-time in Istanbul everyone? Whether it's sung out of defiance or genuine belief, it tells the team that we win or lose together. We aren't just there for the good times.
TS, you mentioned a song that's upbeat and catchy instead of one that's sentimental? Erm... Ricky Martin's "Cup of Life"? I know Freddie Mercury's "We are the Champions" is constantly used as well.

QUOTE(liez @ Nov 28 2010, 04:52 PM) to be fair to them...its actually from glory glory allelujah....but its up to you guys on the arguments part.... Even as a rival, I wish they'd play the whole song or at least other bits of it more often so some fans don't think it's limited to the chorus. They do mention Busby in there. Not all songs were written for the club specifically. Some are adopted and modified. YNWA for example is also sung by Celtic and Kaiserslautern. So there, songs are not stolen, they are adopted and adapted. Both songs have very different meaning so I won't say one is better than the other. The former takes a more positive tone by talking about pride and riding to glory whilst the latter is more passive and talks about sticking together and having hope when you're down. I'm sure that fans of their respective clubs will have their own sentimental reasons for liking their club songs and not just because it sounds cool.
