hello there,

i want to buy an acostic guitar. budget rm400+ to rm600+. I wonder if you all can help me by suggesting some nice, good for value models.

i hv seen the following :
1) yamaha f310, around rm400+, indo made
2) garrison, china made, good review fr thestar.com.my .. but alas .. rm850
3) santa cruz, china made, cheap ... but no impresssion

from the above three, i wud probably log in that yamaha f310, but my impression, yamaha makes pretty decent entry level classical guitars eg c70 or c80 but entry level acoustic guitars are not their forte. for a similar budget, i somehow think that there are better models out there, maybe a canadian or states made guitar round rm500+ to rm600+???

no .. really, i am not trying to intrude other people's thread. just that birds of the same feather flocks together ,,, these threads are started by those who have the experience n knowledge in guitars ,,, just trying my luck to see if the 'sifus' are willing to help out a newbie maaaa

akakakakakaka .. newbie to forum too maa .. using dial up at home ... no streamyx in my area ... connection dang slow .... timed out very often ... most of the times, i have to load a couple of times inorder to read and post ..

1) amp, i goona buy that vox adt30, rm860

2) for the guitar, i am still confused. shud i buy the squire california or yamaha pacifica or craftsman. my budget is in the rm600 to rm1000 price range.

here's my shopping experience for the benefits of others:

1) vox ad30vt @ rm850 from CK Music. the malay guy over there very frenly and good service. list price is rm1K+, first offer rm860, final at rm850. he thrown in some extra goodies without me asking. maybe he sympathised with my tiring efforts to get a car park .. haha

2) bought the pacifica 012 @ rm567 from yamaha hq kelana jaya. guys, dun ever buy yamaha products from that place - their pricing policy and procedure very strict - discount policy is a mere 10% and every other accessories are chargeable. i am aware that some outside yamaha dealers can give 20%.

the service at tat yamaha hq is good no doubt, the technician very helpful. the sale guy, sure frenly but dang stingy. i asked for some free picks - he offered me two pcs, opened a box - the only choice he had was the solid real thicky hard picks - i repeated hey i wan soft picks - he replied tat's the only picks he has - i was thinking wtf i bet u have lots of soft picks if u can charge for it. i paid for my guitar, didn't take the picks and i left. i plan to buy a digital piano too in the near future - but definitely not from him and definitely not from this yammie hq .. haha

oh btw tat yamaha outlet at kl plaza is closed, they will shift to the curve dsara effective 1st feb.

ya i read good comments about sx & samick guitars. but being a newbie, i just cud not help myself falling into the trap of selecting wellknown brands ... thus i narrowed my choice to squier california and the pacifica... i know i know - use the ears n not the eyes when judging the guitar

on the surface, i liked the squier california more .... FENDER branding whorrrrr ... so i went to the squierguitars website for the last check ... aaaaaaaaahhhhh ... kenot find the california model listed on the website ???

ibanez was nice too .. but more pricier .. and those that i like uses flloyd rose tuning .... i dun think i can manage those at this begining stage

checked yamaha america ... well at least the pacifica 012 and the 112 were listed properly there. in the end, bought the pacifica. also, imo, "made in indo" quality is better than "made in china"
