This thread is just the continuation form the previous thread --> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1507300

A brief introduction on what, why and when for those who still wondering why their internet still slow download

QUOTE
Highlight: this problem have been noticed almost 5 month ago, when TM decided to run file type throttling experiment on mainly 4mb user like me, after being caught, they lifted it temporary but certain user are still affected till now.

TM is running file type throttling. What is file type throttling ? Basically. For example, .mkv file type. Last few weeks you may have 200kBps MAX speed on that particular file, but now u are barely reaching 20kBps on it. This is what called file type throttling. Mainly affected DDL user regardless where the server is, IP based, time based
IP based ?
Certain IP address is under file type throttling while others are not, so far affected IP range is 118ip and 60.50.xx IP, the list is yet to be updated blush.gif PS: i am lazy tongue.gif

Time based ?
File type throttling only happen certain period of time, For example 9AM TO 12AM you faced 20Kbps speed but later at 12AM TO 9AM, you are able to download full speed on the same file. I used to called it "HAPPY HOUR SLOWDOWN" where during that time period your download speed is super slow

Check back the previous thread if you want more information.

Below is a few illustrated example;

For Those MU/RS/etc ect user, you may have noticed that even with premium account, your speed is still slow thumbup.gif

These will shed some light on why your speed still slow
Few months backed, TM decided to throttle RS so all RS premium user are downloading at barely 50kbps. Dont be surprised they are aiming other file hoster too

so for those user affected, try doing this like in the previous thread
QUOTE
POST YOUR SCREENSHOT AND IP RANGE HERE IF U ARE FACING THIS BLOODY THROTTLING BY TMNUT
PLS HIDE YOUR FILE NAME.. ONLY SHOW YOUR YOUR EXTENSION AND YOUR SPEED

Reason: Keep this thread ware free

If you are wondering how some of us bypass it ? Sorry i decided to keep it a secret, why
This happen previously on the previous thread
QUOTE
Update & Solution Removed --> Thanks To TM spies
REASON: THEY ARE USING IT AS THEIR MONITORING SITE & THERE EVIDENCE THEY ARE TRYING TO THROTTLE THOSE METHOD POSTED

Therefore, i suggest using VPN or Proxy for now. BTW dont PM asking, the last time PM i received if from some TM individual who i told the solution but later the method can no longer be used to bypass it. It a fail safe precaution for now

Last but not least
Mass email this to TM

TM email -> help@tm.net.my

1. I would like to highlight the throttling service done by TM on various file download. This is unacceptable as this is the violation of Ministry Of Information and Technology policy of no censorship of the Internet. I would like to inform that throttling is also part of censorship of the Internet. This clearly shows that TM is not upholding the "MSC Malaysia 10-Point Bill of Guarantees" which indicates that as part of its commitment to ensuring the success of MSC Status companies, the Government promised to “ensure no Internet censorship” where TM is throttling media file download.

2. I am also well informed that TM have start to throttle media file such as MKV and AVI file via http download. There are few evidences which i will include that have suggested TM have start to throttle media file. There also already an online community (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1507300) set up to highlight this matter to various streamyx users and comments by fellow users of the throttling service. Various user have also posted evidence of their download been throttled.

3. As stated in your website's Fair Usage Policy, "This traffic prioritization policy will protect the quality of service for the majority of our customers when they use the service, while at the same time, still allowing the extremely heavy users to continue to send and receive files with certain restrictions. With this policy in place, we will prioritize Internet activities like web browsing, live streaming, messaging applications and VOIP access while traffic to P2P sites will be given lower priority, due to the high bandwidth consumption of such services. However, I would like to highlight that live streaming on other streaming site other than Youtube.com used HTTP media file like mkv, mp4 and avi file and not the same as P2P and Torrent. With the throttling done, streaming to various media website have become unbearable slow or even face connection time out. So, what is the base of the fair usage policy whereas TM couldn't even define "prioritize Internet activities" and caused dissatisfaction among customers?

4. If the throttling is part of a program to curb illegal download is acceptable. However, legal downloads like from itunes which users pay for the media file download when face such throttling is totally unacceptable. Based on the attachment i provided, we could clearly see that MKV file is throttle up to 20KBps only while RAR file is able to get reasonable good speed. It should be noted that both file is download from the same media server of the same streaming website. This is hard evidence that throttling is been done on my internet line and so does to other user in the online community that are facing such same issues.

5. I am well aware that termination of services can be done if the services is totally below par. If TM couldn't provide proper services and remove this throttling service, a complain to SKMM or CFM would be done because TM couldn't satisfy an average customer and violation of Internet Policy.

Lastly, I am totally disappointed with your services and I hope that a good explanation would be provided and lifting up the throttling would be the smartest option. If there are no proper explanation given, I would like to terminate the service and forward this complain to SKMM and CFM regarding this issue.

<Attach your screen shot your throttled download speed.. with mkv download and rar download.. show and higlight the speed different>
Thank You

check back the previous thread

the reason of the throttling is to curb illegal download, as most of us know what we are mostly downloading are illegal content especially movie
so there a justification by TM to do such thing

of course, just like killing two bird with one stone, save bandwidth. However, TM does have sufficient bandwidth to support most of us for now, it just to prevent future problem

Try download different type of file format from the same server.
Probably your connection slow down etc.

Hitting maximum speed speed with 175.xx IP right now.

are you using premium account ?

then let try this, if you MU premium user, you can rename your file extension

try changing, .iso --> .docx or .is
example

disk 1.iso --> disk 1.docx or disk 1.is

download again see your speed, of course check your speed test again

BolehVPN tak boleh punya. Waste my money only. Best is direct download, buy a Fileserve premium account. Problem solved. Seriously, i seldom have speed problem. There was one day last week, my 5Mbps like only download at 0.5Mbps...a quick call to TM fix it...not sure if they do something or what, but halfway the guy asking me test this and that, it returns to normal. Oh well.

Until now, I don't encounter any throttle on MKV, AVI etc files...
Everything seems normal... Get maximum about 290KB/s and average of 260KB/s on my 2Mbps Streamyx....
Hopefully they will not throttle my connection... My IP range usually between 115.xx.xx.xx and 175.xx.xx.xx
But for Torrent, yeah, I can feel that they throttle my connection. Maximum speed that I can get with torrent only 90KB/s and the down until only 15KB/s...
But I use Torrentflux for the time being....

Latest Im having slow downloading speed.
I am a RS premium user. I used to get at least 500kpbs, and now im getting 5kbs - 50kbs.

My streamyx is 4.0mpbs and I have regularly testing my speed, averagely I will get 3.5mpbs to 3.7mbps.

Anyone can help me?

This is freaking driving me crazy.
