My living room is kind of a long rectangular shape and therefore I would prefer LCD TVs with excellent viewing angle.

Do you guys know what LCD TV models that uses IPS panels?

The samsung ones are not. At least for certain range. So if Samsung is not using IPS panel, I'm pretty sure there are many other manufacturers who don't as well.

For eg:-

QUOTE
Viewing Angle: The viewing angle of the Samsung LTF400HM01 (1012-Slovakia) LCD module embedded within the LE40C580 is quite average, and suffers from excessive gamma shift. On bright contents, off-angle gamma and colour shifts were kept to a bare minimum. However, on dark contents, off-angle gamma shifts highlighted portions of the image that should remain invisible to the viewer. It also highlighted noise and dithering artefacts caused by heavy compression, which could pose a problem during off-axis viewing. Thankfully, viewing the unit dead-on from the recommended distance of two meters does cure the imperfections. If one requires a display with wide viewing angles, it is best to opt for a plasma television or an IPS LCD TV (preferable locally-dimmed for deeper blacks).

Not about big, but viewing angle.
I have around 10 feet viewing distance but 22 feet length to cover.

After looking at this article I think plasma suits my requirements better, furthermore it's cheaper than a LED TV.

Thanks a lot.

I own Plasma and it does not run hot and has been running for 2 years without a hitch. No buzzing sound either. Hence, I would to ask do you guys giving personal opinion or backed by experience?

To TS, try visit major retailers and you will know better. My plasma is in same Pioneer Kuro era which is still legend. Currently, plasma is still being supported by big brands, Pana, Samsung, LG. Anyway, it does run in higher wattage and could not achieve the level of slimness in LED series. They have pro and cons, try survey to know more.

no, i didnt mean that, i actually have LG50PJ350 Plasma TV, 2988 for 50inch screen, great value.
it produce sound, but aircond much noisy,
burn in image, you have to put same image for 1hour every day, then it may occur, some plasma equipped with anti Burn in like screen saver.
Produce heat, i think same as LCD TV with CCFL backlight.
not that bad at all.

also glare issue, if the room got direct sunlight, that might be a problem.
power consumption, same as LCD TV.
response time, damn it fast.
viewing angle, almost like CRT.
Bulky, no. My LG plasma only have about 1inch benzel, quite thin for 50inch display.

looking for perfect picture quality,
in my experience, Plasma, LCD or LED backlight still couldnt beat high end CRT.
OLED or pure LED, i dont know about that, i didnt have a chance to see it. icon_rolleyes.gif

But KURO is the the best thumbup.gif

i own a 42 LG plasma, and it does produce alot of heat ( mayb different model produces less heat? )
If you hav a large area/air cond for the tv then should b no problem as the heat cn be circulated ( my place small living area ).
and yes burn in image, but latest plasma hav the tech to solve this problem so dun worry.

Different people different taste. It is best to go audition, I recommend Harvey Norman. No harm trying out.

Hi end LCD/LED from Sony and Samsung are very good but not cheap though. For average user, Plasma is a worthy contender to those cheap LCD. Good luck.

That is why recent survey done in US show that Plasma now over sell LCD due to cheaper price especially the HD-Ready Plasma.
