hi all personarians,

i have recently getting attention on this car and i have went for a test drive, after some discussion with the SA, he offer me 2k rebate with 200 tint voucher (not sure about the 200 voucher cos was abit of hurry XD). however the condition is that i have to book and get a number plate before 25th on December 2010 lol.

So my question is, is 2k rebate worth it ?
i am actually still deciding as i havnt test out inspira, and i personally abit annoyed by the the sudden high rpm when switching gear (due to campro and ecu ??), the response seems abit slower/slugish on the pedal

BTW i am opting for M-Line Manual Transmission.
Please help,

thanks all in advance.

i am actually planning to buy a new car next year ( 1st quarter), according to the SA, i have to get a number plate for the new car before 25th ..... seems abit rush on things. ... i wonder.....

as for the high rev during gear change, i do not face any from my iswara. it just seems that the response is like 0.5 sec slower, the rev will keep on going even if i have already release the pedal . Can it be resolved?

Btw thanks for all the response. smile.gif

The SA need u to get a number plate by 25th dec is because the 2k discount only stands for cars registered before the 25th dec.. After that no more discounts ady..

Hmmm.. Not too sure about what u are saying, but probably it can be resolved with a new firmware update.. The problem u are mentioning sounds like the old problem b4 the update. Dont worry, ur new car will be coming with the new firmware.. Even my car which was manufactured in oct came with the new firmware ady.

hi there,

thanks for the reply,

i am no car experts so might explain wrongly tongue.gif tongue.gif .how should i say... i mean when i drive my old iswara, the car will not ""vrooom"" when i switch my gear. but it happens all the time when i drive either my sisters' saga BLM or when i test drive the persona. normally for old car such as iswara, when the i switch gear and loosen the pedal, the rpm will go down as no or less gas is provided into the combustion chamber. Simply put it, i stop stepping the pedal, the rpm goes down to 1k or less straight away. but for these new protons, whenever i switch gear , step in the clutch and release the gas pedal, the engine will continue to go faster and faster for like 0.5 sec before it goes back to normal, so with no gear(as still switching) the engine will go loud and rpm will shoot up to like 3k or so. it is like i cannot get immediate response from the gas pedal as i have in my old iswara.

hope i dont make you all asleep doh.gif doh.gif

thx all for the help. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Yeah old car is drive by cable.. Its all mechanical, u release the throttle, the throttle body closes at the same rate.. But drive by wire is controlled by the ECU.. And the ECU with the old firmware is slightly retarded.. So it takes 0.5sec to think should it ease of the throttle or not.. Then only it does.. And yeah the new firmware has eliminated the throttling when changing gear..

thanks for the clarification, however i tested the car yesterday, shouldnt they have eliminated the problem? the car i tested is old ones? i personally dont thinks so cos the SA was kind enough to let me test a car which has been book by someone(lol hope the owner dunno XD).

my experience of three years with manual non iafm campro.

The rev is the characteristics of the engine & it does frustrate me a few months of ownership.
But after you get used to it, you will know when to synchronise both of your foot & i can say now my gear change is smooth.
Automatically when i anticipate gear change, i release first the gas & then press the clutch.
And that technique you can also apply to other type of cars without any problems so i dont think its anything abnormal.

And i find it can be advantage while trying to chase someone with fast gear change.. laugh.gif

and the drive by wire delay also you will need to be familiarised with it. Once in a while i do get 'caught' by the delay.

hi, was just calling one of the SA and according to him, new persona will not have this kind of problem. he also said, car will become like that if the car has less gas in tank O_O"". now i am confused.

btw if i book now, ill get 2k rebate ++ freebies .... problem is, ill get 2010 made car instead of 2011(to be confirmed)

the new batch is I think the new persona that have the IAFM. the 1st batch like mine 2007 still using 32 bit.

thanks for the reply, however i thought new persona elegance only using 32 bit ECU? .... if they are using 64bit ecu on the car that i have test drove on last week.... ill have second thought about that .... the car response is just horrible doh.gif doh.gif

anyway thx for all the replies icon_rolleyes.gif

i think you need to go through the previous replies, there's no 64 bits ecu for persona. PE 32 bits and the earlier batch persona is 16 bits.

hi

thanks for the reply, however like i said, it was the SA that told me about 64 BIT ECU, i know from the beginning that persona elegance is onyl at 32 bits.... just curious why the SA told me it is 64 ?? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
