what is the process to make appointment at CoSE?

Added on December 6, 2010, 11:50 am

what about full set, front and rear?
*
Front is RM100 per pair, if ur rear is disc brake also then RM90 for the rear pair.. If drum i dont know lah.. Gotta get other brands.

QUOTE(xandras @ Dec 6 2010, 12:35 PM)
Just came back from CoSE. Apparently their schedule is full for walk-ins today, and I blame the accident at KM 50 Kesas for causing me to be late.  cry.gif  Anyway, I was able to make an appointment there for this Wednesday, and the reception guy said that they'll check and fix all probs on Wednesday itself. Sweet.  biggrin.gif

Mesmerized by all the Lotus there tho o.o

One thing is, I'm quite impressed with the service and agree with the reception guy; I told him about my car problems and how the mechanics at PEKELILING SERVICE CENTRE handled them. They said that they've already solved the problem but the noises are still there, and they claimed that it would take up to 2 months to order a set of steering pipe/orifice valve. 2 months?? Seriously?? The receptionist at CoSE told me that it's ridiculous, & that they're just lazy. They didn't fix the noise problems and all because they're lazy, and because they think that they're protected by a statement in Page 13 of the Warranty/Service booklet, 4.1.10 "Slight irregularities not recognized as affecting quality or function of the vehicle or part, functional phenomena", No. 2 - Slight noise or negligible vibration affecting vehicle operation or function of components.

Slight? Hello, the door panel on the rear right passenger seat sounds like it's about to come off whenever I go over bumps. How is that slight?

Pekeliling SC mechanic: "Oh, itu bunyi biasa la. Kita tak boleh repair. Bukan under warranty. Bukak volume radio tinggi sikit tak dengar lah tu. Sikit je."

And in 4.1.10 - "Any changes occuring with time under normal use of the vehicle....."

My car only 1 week old leh. And I detected the sound 4 days after getting my car.

Screw them Authorised SC. I'm gonna service my car at CoSE after this. No more outside Authorised SC. I rather pay extra to get the job done, if there's any additional charges.
*
Nvr ask them can retrofit ABS and airbag? I forgot to ask the last time i went..

Bro u shd try Serdang SC for standard lube service.. Very good recommendation too.. And thats the reason i like CoSE too.. Very near my house.. And the technicians seems very well trained.. Can answer all my questions and very friendly too.. My parts they say will at least take 1.5mths to arrive.. Ordered on 18th november on my first service..

And please take pics of the problem areas when they open up the door to fix it.. So i can post it up on the first post. THanks!

I asked them.. They said it's possible.. But then they ask me back "If wan retrofit airbag & ABS why didn't just get H-Line? U get leather seats, sport rims, front back disc brakes & double airbags too." I really  sweat.gif  that time.  sweat.gif  LoL. But it makes sense. The cost for retrofitting airbag & ABS is more or less about the same as the price difference between B-line & H-Line. And retrofitting will void warranty for the brakes, and you have to change the steering wheel cos B-line steering wheel cannot fit airbag.

I know, but I'm not sure Serdang where. I will take pics, of cos. Useful to forummers here  biggrin.gif
*
Haha.. I went for H-Line initially.. But then what happened was i cocked up in the bank loan process.. Maybank only approved 37500 for me.. vmad.gif
Then my mom help me go cari cable.. Then found one fella in CIMB, he can help me approve higher amount of loan, but too bad since i went to maybank first, the 37500 loan has ady been entered into the centralised system. Thats y he cant help me get Hline full loan.. He can only adjust to help me get full loan for BLine lah..
Im still a student, where got money to topup the 10k for Hline, and paiseh want to ask my parents somemore, so i just took Bline lah.. Cheaper mthly repayment also, so at least i dont need so stress to work hard to cover for it. tongue.gif

Why i think it should be cheaper to retrofit is due to the new 32bit ECU will have the necessary module all integrated for the airbag and ABS, they just deactivate it only.. Unlike 16bit relay system where there is another separate unit installed for ABS controls.

Yea, but I think the cost is not from the ECU tho. It's from the airbag & ABS itself..

Wah, how old are u? Student already can afford H-line?  rclxms.gif  Mine was also because of the loan prob.. Darn PubIc Bank,  9 years x 4%... Damn shiong... rclxub.gif
*
22 only.. tongue.gif Got lah i do a lot of part time work and investment.. hehe.. mine 9yrs @4% too.. Cant reduce the interest cos it mostly fixed interbank due to the poor resale value of Proton.

QUOTE(khtee @ Dec 6 2010, 02:39 PM)
i also think it might cost alot to retrofit....since

There are four main components to an ABS system:
Speed sensors
Valves
Pump
Controller
i am guessing each of this component could easily cost alot?

and if were to do so.. perhaps ya u r right... better ask PESC to do it .. if they allow it... only they might have the right firmware for the communication between the abs module and the ecu
*
Yeah it would cost quite a lot.. So im just trying to get a quotation first.. if around 4k then i think it would be a sound investment.. But the prob is ABS doesnt work with drum brakes.. So its either i have 2 front tires with ABS or change back brakes to disc to have 4tires ABS.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Get the parts from kereta potong shop.. Those condemned Proton Persona sure can get cheap cheap loh.

err vios... rear wheel are on drum brakes... they ABS..EBD.. and even BA !! i think drum brake too can have abs.. is a matter of configuration

QUOTE(xandras @ Dec 6 2010, 02:57 PM)
ABS doesn't work with drum brakes?  hmm.gif If I not mistaken I've seen my Myvi's rear brake locking & unlocking very rapidly when my friend drove it.. Test brakes  tongue.gif  Just do the same style as Myvi lah.. Front ABS.. Enough d la.. Condemned Proton? LoL.. Must see what's the reason the car is condemned first... I'm sure you won't wanna spend your cheese on a set of brakes that failed to save it's previous owner, rite?  shakehead.gif

Yes bro.. But no matter how much it cost, the money spent is nothing compared to your own life.. That's why I opted for ML.. Altho no ABS but I can still have that chance of survival if I ever get into an accident.. Touchwood. Been through that once, never want it to repeat again  blink.gif
*
No bros.. It doesnt.. Vios only comes with front disc brake ABS.. The main reason it doesnt work ABS doesnt work with drums are due to the ABS works on the threshold braking concept (not sure if thats what it call, read it up somewhere). Threshold braking is applying just enough of brake force that prevents the wheel from locking up yet at the same time the most amount of brake force. Thats y u can feel ABS system working when the shudder in the tires due to losing and regaining traction on wet surface amplifies the effect of the hold and release of the ABS.

in Persona with front disc and back drum brakes, there is a brake proportioning valve and metering valve that prevents the same amount of brake force in the front and back wheel as the threshold for drum brake lockup is very low.. Example if disc brake lock up threshold is 3:1, drum is 1.5:1, so if there is no restriction of brake force, when the brake pump multiplies ur brake force to 2:1, ur front disc still wont lock but ur back tire will lock up.. To install ABS for 4tires u have to remove the proportioning valve and metering valve so that the ABS can get the correct wheel speed and brake pressure reading, but then the ABS would be defeated due to the different acceleration and deceleration speed of the wheel in the front and back, so it cant compare the data and making it useless..

The spark plugs, yes, you might find a difference and worth. Easier to start engine, accelerator feels lighter & more sensitive. The drop in air filter, on the other hand.. It's washable, and it's much better than the original Proton's air filter, IMHO. I'm sure you've read threads here about how some Persona's air filter got bent, probably due to heat, and allowed unfiltered air into the engine. It's really not good.

The last time I got K&N original for RM 120 wor.. Dealer's price, bought in bulk with 20-30+ other Myvians  biggrin.gif

O.o I see I see.... Hah.. Now I've got all the power under the hood to tapau Vios yet I don't dare cos no ABS. LoL. Life more precious lah. Last time always cry Myvi kena tapau by Vios. Now get to tapau Vios a few times also cry cos scared die. =.= But no ABS fun leh... Can slide here slide there  thumbup.gif

Bulk 20-30+ ppl of cos can get that cheap lah.. Now K&N filter for persona RM220 ... KNS so expensive... And simota has better reputation than K&N though.. hehehe.. Now still can tapau Vios, i tapau them a few times ady.. No ABS also can, just need balls the size of jackfruits..

Bro are you sure? ABS is installed even in trucks in US.. with rear drum brakes... wouldnt it defeat the purpose if the back tires were to lockup despite the front doesnt?

but i do think ya. if u were to get them.. get them with all 4 disc brakes.... since i dont think there is any proton with ABS that doesnt have 4 disc brakes... not worth the risk to try get the correct configuration without 4 disc ...hehe "hopefully proton did.. do proper RnD on their brake system.. or at least paid some company to do for them"
*
I think they have special system for the trucks lah.. But Proton as u said where got ABS without 4 disc brakes.. I would trust my life on Proton doing proper R&D so far loh.. We are more like white mouse for them to experiment as PE are the first batch with the new ECU blah blah.. ABS is to help in ur emergency braking, not premature retardness driving style... Driving like those KNN MCB wannabe on the road still will die in the end.. See how many Myvi and Vios with ABS still have so terrible accidents..

Wouldn't all these additions of non-specified Proton components e.g Brake systems, wider/bigger rims/tires, air filters & extractors void the warranty. Guys, u r just giving Proton the chance to reject any claims. Is it worth it?
*
Yeah it will.. But then it will only void the warranty for the particular parts that u changed.. So even if u have disc brake problems (warped disc) with ori Proton ones they will still say its a wear and tear item and its not covered by their warranty.. Unless ur disc brake is shattered due to material problem (probability nearly 0%), its very difficult to claim.. And for exhaust piping, i have nvr heard of any problems when done at reputable workshops..

Added on December 7, 2010, 12:03 am

I'm guessing your ride is stock standard?  smile.gif

Thats the thing with warranty. Each part changed; e.g, exhaust system, the warranty for exhaust system only will be voided. Not the whole car. It's just how much you value the warranty. Rims, why would you need warranty on that? Tyres, no warranty cos it's wear & tear. For auto cars, our air filters are drop in type. If there's any problem, just remove the aftermarket one & replace with Proton's original filter & send it back to service centre.

Own preferences lah..

It'd be cool if I can get Langkawi/Kedah plate  biggrin.gif
*
Nope u cant get Langkawi plates for cars outside Langkawi.. About the air filter mb i will go ask the workshop for a discounted price first then i come post it here and then we place order lah..
I drove a friends satria neo (cam-tak-pro version, not CPS) when she got it new and the engine felt really heavy.. But after changed to full tuned length extractor, 2 spiral bullet and s-flow muffler her car can feel very light, super revvy, slightly better FC and the sound 99% same like OEM..
im planning to get mufflers that sound like these.(deep meaty rumble only on mid to high throttle, on idling rev sounds like stock muffler)

NOT THESE TYPE OF AH BENG ONES (noise pollution kaw kaw, and not supercar somemore)

QUOTE(rckh @ Dec 7 2010, 12:17 AM)

Yeah thats a prob if u manage to get a lemon.. Although there is a 50% probability it will happen, but aesthetics wise u gain lah.. Unless get those ori Japan forged rims which are super expensive.. There is always a risk..

But it is that good. I know tires can get from the shop.. but most of the time they offer lousy tires.. Silverstone is everywhere.. I oni saw 1 shop offering me Bridgestone.. The rest all china brand..

What do u think about Falken Ziex? tyre shop offering me 290 per piece.. Ok ah?
*
Rm290.. I think around there lah.. Very rare to get below rm280 for good brands.. If u got the budget, go for Toyo PROXES T1R.. Around Rm380 a piece.. I can SWEAR by the quality of this tire.. BEST BEST ever wet and dry grip, better than and continental sport contact 3 tires.. Going on highway with heavy rain at 140kmh and it provides tremendous grip.. No slight or any loss in grip felt.. It gives u the confidence to go even faster.. If i got the budget, this is surely the tire i will choose.. Very less road noise.. But tire wears out slightly faster than normal.. I say around 25k-35k km with hard driving..

so means you tried before? how?
*
I did this in Mydin USJ 1 back car park, before the guards came and shoo me off.. Accelerate in a straight line, till u reach gear 3 at around 3-4k rpm, full lock of steering wheel and pull handbrake to almost the max then drop to gear 2.. Accelerate as much as possible as u powerslide, but my tires felt wobbly.. So i stopped lah.. Scared later tire come out.. After power sliding make sure go do ur alignment cos mine all lari a bit..

count me in. K&N or WORKS will be better? what about spark plug? Denso?

OK.. No idea which spark plugs to use though..

10-30?
*
Ideally 10w-40 and higher.. Use 30 too thin.. Engine will have more power, but then wear and tear is very much higher...

change aftermarket airfilter together with exhaust system
= you will feel big different thumbup.gif
*
I 2nd that.. Change exhaust itself can feel a lot of difference.. Especially for auto transmission..

ya right after warranty expired haha
*
Even under warranty also what is there to be spoilt in the exhaust system lah?? The exhaust system wont affect other parts of the car except for higher FC in poorly tuned car setup..
