Is that Cheetah a 10,000rpm 73LP or earlier version? Cause, I'm using one here also.. still working and running 24/7 (downloading "stuffs"). Anyway did you check the cables, wheteher it was terminated properly.. Another area to check is the jumpers.
If all else fails, remove the drive and examine at HDD controller board. Near the power molex, there are several ferrite beads and "fuses"(those "0" ohm resistors) actually. If you have a multi-meter, check the conductivity.
1. no jumpers seen.
2. no problem with the card or cable coz i exchanged everything with the second identical hdd and it works.
3. no heat produced when i attached the hdd to 12v power supply from another comp for 5hr.
no other scsi cable available so can't change cable. compuzone says they dun have scsi stuff to check this hdd but they do sell it if you want it. only MyPC has cash-on-delivery SCSI cable cost rm180 (15 channel with terminal - only choice, no others will fit this hdd)
not sure what model but bought some 3 years ago. athlon t-bred 1800+ that time.

something like this:

For the partiton being using(eg:c/) u cant perform
CHKDSK C: /R, u need to [Tick]
Check Disk of the particular partiton and it will fix it during the next boot.
no you don't have bad sectors. you have a different problem. in your pic it says 0 kb in bad sectors.

uhh one more question ,, how do i retain the ms-dos window after i check disk ?
you can't retain ms dos after chkdsk if you are checking your OS partition because it only checks on your next boot.
usually this is what i do:
1. go to start>run
2. type 'cmd' and the command prompt pops up.
3. let's say you want to check D drive and C drive is you OS. type D:\ hit enter and then type CHKDSK /F (to fix errors) or CHKDSK /R (to check free space) or CHKDSK /F /R
4. now it will ask you to force a dismount or not. make sure you are not taking anything from that drive and they type 'y'
5. chkdsk will now run in front of you and after that the window stays.
if you check you OS partition and you can't read the report fast enough after the check, when it finish checking and enter windows, go to command prompt, type CHKDSK (read-only mode) and after chkdsk finish you will see the identical report as you missed previously.
if your comp gone cranky and you decided to run chkdsk on all partitions, do not force dismount on non-os partition but schedule them to check after restart. (How can you correct the other partitions when your OS partition is corrupted??) In this case where you schedule C:\ for chkdsk with other non-os partitions, chkdsk will 1st check all partition with C:\ being the last one, and it will restart and check all non-os partition again. in that way it is better.
if you have problem with volume bipmap, free space problem, mft fragmentation, hdd data transfer corruption, please please don't run chkdsk. it will only corrupt it further.
hope this experience of mine help you guys
