I got something to share:

My WD HD, I took it for a ride. I live in Serdang and went to Wangsa Maju to transfer some files to my friend's PC. After going to Wangsa via KTM + LRT then back again, I checked my HD with speedfan and... sad.gif

The performance had drop from 100% to 89% jus in one trip?!

It has been working at 100% since,... erm... year 2000... Ahhh...
I'll never bring my HD for a joyride again...

Maybe your HD is running at high speeds with little or not air circulation to cool ur disk. Try to get a hd cooler.

i dunno why my new 250gb hdd always overheat???
the temp. always between 58c to 68c
the highest record reached 70c

cheap enclosure's chipset will give u the headache by not giving data at all... U should listen to speedfan and get a new disk...

I just plugged in my 2.5" WD HDD into the laptop to check it's SMART status. Everything looks ok but there are 115 Reallocated Sector Count. Speedfan online diagnostic adviced me to backup data and get a new disk. This disk was actually used in a problematic HDD enclosure. Does this mean that my HDD is dying? Maybe because of my lousy cheapskate enclosure, it has caused the reallocation. Can I un-reallocate the sectors by writing zero or formatting?
p/s: Don't use cheapskate enclosures.. They give headaches.  sweat.gif

If u fix the HD with software, it might last 3days to 3years. But who knows?

How long will a HDD with bad sector will last if I've already "fix" it with some software but still using it to do regular stuff such as surfing and light gaming?

sweat.gif doh.gif
the best would be room temperature. laugh.gif When the value is:

room temperature < hard disk temperature < room temperature... laugh.gif

Try not to touch 50 degrees if possible.
