after that I didnt buy Maxtor anymore always buy WD only  thumbup.gif

the cause of the fire was the solder on the chip overheat because of excessive dust (closer inspection of the decease was the hdd was choking on dust cause i didnt clean the hdd and I open the case too)

so word of encouragement to you all is CLEAN YOUR PC FROM DUST REGULARLY

cry.gif Same me ,mine died 2 days ago.Maxtor 160gb Diamond 16,now try to recovery but very slow, it can still see the files inside but cannot transfer coz cyclic redundancy error,
sometimes can transfer certain files. Upon checking also found dust choking the poor bugger and my casing temp go up when i on 24/7, and it work so hard on BT sad.gif
