the reason why u2311h is special because its using ips panel and it is the cheapest monitor with ips panel.
With ips panel you got better colour production, wider viewing angle,more durable pixel (less chance getting stuck/dead pixel) and better contrast ratio, plus you got zero-stuck pixel warranty. The only con for u2311h are smaller display, higher response time, lack of hdmi port and less modern monitor design.

For answering your question, u2311h are better for both gaming (unless you can see ghosting) and movies playback due to reason above.

Ok you have to see the actual monitor yourself. Don't get carried away by other comments as it's not accurate. Since Samsung store have complete range of models. You can see the difference with your own eyes then make decision.

For the 27" easily above RM1,500 if not mistaken.
