QUOTE(clawhammer @ Dec 13 2010, 08:40 PM) If it has better features, colors, etc then it's normal to be a bit more expensive Nevertheless, I don't think Samsung is overpriced, look at Dell Ultrasharp or Apple Cinema display and that's what I call super expensive. You pay for the premium panel for these monitors. For Ultrasharp, some offer extensive outputs.

Good debate I see. Something to share, panel discussion should not bring power consumption into play. In a monitor, it is the backlight that contributes to the power in major. Dell Ultrasharp has higher power rating, that is the monitor design, as a 2209WA has 6 CCFL tube than 4 in others LCD. Hence, more power needed. That is why LED backlighting comes into play to reduce power, be it TN or IPS.
I usually do not quote response time and contrast as it is very subjective, not solid standard available. Ghosting may apply, but lets not generalize all users need 2ms speed to enjoy the monitor, perhaps FPS pros would care?
IPS certainly not the king, but it is better just by looking at it, maybe some people need side by side comparison. I personally enjoy IPS on iPad very much.
Please do not quote this post. It is just personal view. Chill.

@clawhammer
Your league is very much different here. People here usually compare products with similar price point, say around RM700. Then, TN and eIPS come into play as these fall into the budget. Hence, the eIPS is not crap anymore if the price point is right. In fact, you pay for what you get still applies, for a cut down IPS monitor but I still see it better than similar priced TN out there and it should do just fine.

Wow, this has not end. Just to answer previous question. For 16:10 panel other than DELL, look for Fujitsu. Last time hikari85 carried them, now not sure.
What I can deduce is: clawhammer wanted a 30' TN so bad that he does not like to pay a lot more for a same size IPS, understandable as there is no such big TN available, it is enthusiast class. The rest of us, I believe wanted a better panel at 22-24' other then widely spread TN as long as not too much expensive. Hence, this is the cause that eIPS mushrooming and people start talking about. Just my comment.
