Pardon me, may I know what is DP?
*
Display Port, it's a standard that rumor to replace the current VGA and DVI, having same function as HDMI it provide digital video and also carry audio signal, and its standard state it deliver higher bandwidth than HDMI (or was it?).
For now, DVI is sufficient for PC.

Note:
Although DP has same function as HDMI, but the protocol is way different so you can't convert DP to HDMI directly, you need active converter or your output device has the functionality to output DP signal through HDMI port or vice-versa.

DP is the next gen digital connection .... there is no rumour ... support is large enough to be considered an established connection format. DP opened format, no need fees paid to rights holders like HDMI.

The fact is my Graphic Card is only GT240 GeForce. Suppose there is only certain limit to enhance viewing experience right?

DP still not widely use yet, as the market is already saturated with HDMI products and leading consumers to do a switch is not easy or fast

most visible usage of DP is AMD Eyefinity, and business class laptops (HP Elitebook, Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes/Precisions... etc)

Viewing experience in what sense? Quality of the movie? Blu-Ray? 3D vision? Or gaming performance?

GT240 is fair enough for most of the movie task, not sure about 3D Blu-ray support though, but even so will be sufficient enough, your processor will do the rest if your graphics card is not able to hold up.

Gaming performance however will be slightly or severely degraded such as those high-end games, you might not able to enjoy those eye-candy that require faster GPU processing and higher VRAM.

Ah, this question is slightly OT. Anyway, those who has the U2412M already please post pix for me to drool.gif at.

Thanks

My graphic card was my only concern to supply my new monitor. Watch normal movies download from internet. Not blue ray or colorful ray. Yes light game like team fortress 2 on casual.

Ok I janji sama lu will post pictures for your viewing pleasure.

My, all these news about the U2412M sounds very interesting. Maybe I'll ditch my U2311H and get a U2412M to pair with my U2410. thumbup.gif

Btw, where can I buy a decent LCD calibration set and how much?

Yeah, its good for me. Sharp smile.gif But I think all LCD screens are more or less similar isn't it? My very first LCD screen also is sharp for viewing text already.

I bought my Spyder3Express from Yamiya. If you are using dual monitor setup, you need to get Spyder3Elite or Spyder3Pro. Express does not support loading independent LUT to separate monitors, I had to use third party software to calibrate both my monitor sad.gif

Yeah, well, you can try finding a decent 24" IPS monitor before the U2311H came out. And even then, I wasn't pleased that the U2311H was only 1080 pixels tall.

As for pictures, there's really not much to see.

Thanks for the information. Where's Yamiya and roughly how much should I expect to fork out for a single monitor or dual monitor? And what third party software did you used?

No really, I was waiting for a review on this U2412M since it was launch, but I guess what tip the scales is the further discount of RM100.

BTW anybody knows how long this further discount of RM100 offer going to be? hmm.gif

Unfortunately for me, there were no additional discounts at that time, I paid RM1,699.

A question for U2412M owners. Do you have 1:1 display mode?
