As you might have already known, SLR Magic has recently acquired the Noktor lens brand. The high cost to manufacture the lens as well as the long production lead time made it very difficult for the original Noktor lens to be in stock after its initial production which was delivered by March/April 2010.

We noticed there is an extremely long waiting list for the lens and we believe everyone has expectations that the lens will be sold for $799 + shipping when it is available. However, the optics are manufactured in Japan and manufacturing cost and the Japanese Yen has risen quite steeply over the past year. We have updated the retail price for the Noktor lens accordingly to $1000 USD.

As we know you have been on the waiting list for a long time, we will present to you a limited offer for 7 days to order this lens at the original $799 USD + $50 shipping. Some countries will have import tax and you should check if that applies to your country.  The buyer should be responsible for all related import duty/tax levied by the importing country.  For your information, our new batch of Noktor 50mm f/0.95 lens will become available by end of July.  There is only a small quantity available to satisfy our pre-order list and we will send out the lens according to the order in which payment is received.  If we do not hear from you, we will pass your offer to the next person on the waiting list.

There are some improvements to the SLR Magic x Noktor 50mm F0.95. The original version had minor flaws such as green color cast and lens flare under certain situations. We have resolved these issues now. The lens mount is in black, the lens has been treated for internal reflections, the green retainer ring has been painted black on the underside to prevent both lens flare and color cast. Lastly, as suggested by many users, the Noktor 50mm | F0.95 is no longer written on the lens barrel and it is written on the retainer ring instead for a more elegant appearance. With the above improvements, the original optic design can perform better than the previous version. The optics are still made in Japan.

We understand some micro four thirds users may have changed systems to Sony NEX. If that is the case, we can offer a Sony NEX version for you at the same price. Just request for NEX version in your email to us.
