just got an olympus e-PL1. obviously by now it's the bottom of the rung, but I still think it's a great camera hahaha. very good offer from fotokem.

this has probably been asked to death here, but there's over 60pages in this thread, what's a good all around lens(apart from the kit lens u get) to complement the camera?

i travel a lot, and likes to take panaroma shots, buildings/architecture, and closeup of..FOOD!

bit grainy, gona push up ISO to compensate the poor aperture..

anyone getting Pentax-Q ? i heard it is cheaper than Pen p3

ugh...it has minuscule sensor...while people are already complaining 4/3 sensor is small...

if too big then it is not call 4/3 d

Micro four third system sensor is ~9 times bigger than the 1/2.3 used in the Pentax Q ler.

since just pentax launch this Q-mount, hence lens to be mount on pentax q will be lesser in market. = no alternative lense made by third party. correct me if i'm wrong

even m4/3 lens also only few lens available in market.

m4/3 system still has the widest variety of lenses when comparing with other mirrorless system (Sony Nex, Samsung NX, Pentax Q)...

Looks like older m4/3 cameras like GF1 can't use the new X lenses

i read that you can...but will lose out some features unless pana decides to release firmware update for GF1...

The firmware, which will be available at 'the beginning of October' will work with the DMC-GH2, G3, GF3 and GF2, and will provide several additional options for how the powered zoom is controlled. By a process of elimination, it seems reasonable to assume these are the functions that won't be available to older G-series users (G1, GF1, GH1, G2, G10), and possibly Olympus PEN users.

this is what i dug up...
note that the lenses can be used even without firmware update...just that you lose some of the features..
so it's safe to assume the lense can be used on all m4/3 bodies, since the mount is the same, but you'll lose out the features with older models...
good strategy to attract people to buy pana instead of oly...

What "other" features are they that I can't use on GF1?

I don't care for now as I have 14-42mm, 20mm pancake and 25mm f/1.4 now. If I have to use X lens in future I will just get a G3 or GH2 (or whatever latest and greatest by then) body

features we can live without....
- Display of the focal length
- Step zoom
- Zoom resume
- Selectable zoom speed

that lens is awesome
