ok first fact..panasonic do not have any facility to repair lens in malaysia..

ok if they say is cover underwarranty..where do they send our unit to? japan? wooo so exclusive ah....u think possible or not??

2nd fact is panasonic will send to bintang maju for repair..WTF!! bintang maju??? yeah bintang maju....is bintang maju certified to repair pana lens??? i donno..no announcement or whatsoever ...which means not certified...
*
Possible, if they are to send the lens to Japan to repair, just like those PC motherboards are sent back to Taiwan to repair. But may take weeks to months for repair. rolleyes.gif

Even if they were to send to Bintang Maju to repair, certified or not they still will get it fixed right? LOL

Why not you send an email to Panasonic Japan to ask about this, I remember somebody did this before and got their warranty honored. icon_idea.gif

Just saw my nick was quoted here.

Yes, the lens has 1-year warranty. There's a sheet of warranty paper in the lens box.

I'm not sure about kit lens though. Let me check with the Lumix sales person in Panasonic.
*
Yeah is good if you can help clarify this for us, thanks tongue.gif

My 20mm 1 year up no warranty already, but my GF1 + 14-45mm kit still got till Nov 2012. sweat.gif

if u put on tripod, IS will make ur picture blur...

ISO100 is the cleanest mah... why not ?  brows.gif
*
QUOTE(hellfire8888 @ Jan 27 2011, 02:29 PM)
yeah gogo is rite..

when IS is turn on there will be moving internal parts in your camera that moves,,,and you would not want it to move when u are on a tripod..

if you got mirror lockup function turn it on to further reduce any vibration from your camera...(if u use oly slr)

long shutter speed at night,,just go with the lowest iso...and yeah turn on noise reduction too...noise reduction is different from noise filter (applicable for olympus camera only)
*
Ya I understand the ISO part, lower to reduce unnecessary noise ... but I didn't know about the IS will move if using on tripod haha. tongue.gif

Guess I didn't notice about that due to I always using GF1 + 20mm, both no IS. sweat.gif

Thanks for explanation. notworthy.gif

oh.. so basically a low light lens like 20mm panny pancake should be good enuf for nice low light photography right?? Dunno how often i gonna use it for low light condition, but i am kinda annoyed with high noise when low light, especially most of the compact cam.. So actually if can be better than normal cam, not much noise then ok edi..
*
Even with a bright lens such F1.4, I still can see a lot of noise in the pictures in low light. Some are acceptable but others have to PP it out using Lightroom or Photoshop icon_idea.gif
M43 system definitely has lots of noises compared to DSLRs ... depending how much you can accept it lor. wink.gif
If you are always shooting in low light, maybe m43 is not suitable for you. Just my 2 cents. rolleyes.gif

Just a note. I did play around with the gradation settings. Sometimes it affects the saving time of JPEGs. Fiddle around with the settings to get the fastest JPEG save time.

Anyways, GH2 finally hit Shashinki.

ya lor... it's not like they don't have the tech. GH2 sensor into GF1 body will be nice.

A m43 body size of GF1 with built-in EVF, IS, fast auto focus like GF1, add some art filters, GH2 sensor, forget touch/tilt screen, oh ya better battery please. brows.gif

I'm pretty sure Pana or Oly can make one ... just one is focused on 3D/video, another is focused on entry level. wink.gif

normally if take indoor photo, wat apeture size and shutter speed u guys set? and which mode should i use? Any beginner place where i can learn something?
*
Indoor photo means low light you want as large aperture as possible ie. F1.7, for shutter speed u need around 1/60 to prevent a handshake blur as there is no IS in the 20mm. icon_idea.gif

First learn the exposure triangle, depth of field, white balance, your camera's functions and then just keep practice smile.gif There are plenty of websites to Google. rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Feb 11 2011, 09:28 PM)
btw, do you guys have dry cabinet for ur m43 camera?
*
No need spent extra money for that, just use a box or cabinet to store your gears and place a few packs of silica gels in it will do. Or buy those de-humidifier to help u keep the storage place dry. thumbup.gif brows.gif

QUOTE(wiraone @ Feb 11 2011, 10:17 PM)
The case that comes free with my GF1 is too big to carry, is the leather case sold by many, looks good on GF1? Or probably a more generic one? Any suggestion?
*
I got this around Rm56++ for GF1+20mm, vintage look well protects my camera. But took 2 weeks to ship from HK and it can't change to a half case sad.gif

Yeah I do keep 2~3 small ones in my camera bag, very useful, I also take them out once a while and blow it with hair drier, to keep it dry. laugh.gif

Looks good to me but is the imitation leather of a good quality? I don't need those half case, just want something that I could put the camera in when it is not in use during short trip. Probably I'll look for a more generic case.. will try to scour around..

Added on February 12, 2011, 9:48 amDid a search around, it seems LowePro has some that can fit GF1 with accessories nicely .. will look around one that can fit the GF1 nicely..
*
It's pretty good quality, hard material. I got a Kata sling bag big enough for 2 lenses and other accessories .. but I feel it defeats the purpose of m43 system, as it's almost like carrying a DSLR. wink.gif

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Feb 12 2011, 11:47 AM)
i heard about ppl buying Hoya uv filter still having the flare thingy... so i wanna ask properly 1st, and how much normally for a filter?
*
I think all UV filter will have the flare issue, unless it has Multi-Coated (MC) perhaps? I'm not sure about that actually. tongue.gif

But to remove flare, better use a lens hood. smile.gif But the 20mm F1.7 can use either one at a time tongue.gif

Here we have the Panny 14mm easily available for RM700 and ppl bundling it with E-PL1 stocks (cheap cheap 1.5K niah)... with E-PL2 ... with G2.. with G10.

20mm on the other hand went up in price and hard to find also.

Added on May 13, 2011, 2:20 pmSince I'm in the market for a small camera... just share some findings when browsing dpreview's RAW comparison tool here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/OlympusXZ1/page11.asp

It looks like the small m43's have a little over 1-stop of noise advantage over the XZ-1 but lens wise.. I think the wide end makes things equal while the XZ-1 should be more usable on the tele end.

But I'm surprised that the GF2 RAW looked worse than its predecessor GF1  shocking.gif  shocking.gif

Just check the the scene comparison for G3, 600D and GH2. G3 looks close to 600D, slightly better than GH2 wo. brows.gif

I might upgrade to G3 instead, screw the ugliness haha. doh.gif

You are saying GF1 has high 2nd hand value? drool.gif
