Seem like everywhere on the interweb is saying that the new G3 is the spiritual successor GF1.
Why?? How come?? I don't paham. |

QUOTE(Wii_hunter @ Jun 6 2011, 12:42 AM) http://www.43rumors.com/ft5-panasonic-gf3-leaked/ It's freakin fugly GF3 leaked. is it really small? i find hard to figure out the dimensions in relation to the hand of the girl. Someone made a GF2 vs GF3 size comparison.. looks like Panny is hell bent in making smaller and smaller cameras disregarding everything else ![]() This post has been edited by sniper on the roof: Jun 6 2011, 09:49 AM |

QUOTE(Guy85 @ Jun 6 2011, 10:00 AM) NEX-5 still not bad, sometimes it hit and miss, it more frequent compare to others, but like the high ISO performance. What do you mean by hit and miss? The AF?Want to try others system, so had to sell it, just can afford one camera at a time. Oh, but I do not think Olympus will have anything new this year through the research from the web. I almost want to sell it already, now I can't live without a camera, haha... But maybe will consider DSLR as well, maybe PENTAX. As for dslr... ur gonna be really lens limited with Pentax since they don't have too many lens available in shops. Also 3rd party lens also not focussed on Pentax. As a system, it gets more expensive if you go beyond the standard kit lens. |

QUOTE(Guy85 @ Jun 6 2011, 01:31 PM) Yup. just do nto like it. You use face detection thingy, multi-point thingy .. or u meant the fixed center AF not accurate?Ya lo, I found that Pentax beside kit lens, all others lens are very expensive, all are 1.5k above. Also do not know which to choose...too many choices. You are using which mFT model? I don't own a m43 yet... been meaning get one but still cannot fully accept the compromise yet as of date. QUOTE(Guy85 @ Jun 6 2011, 04:50 PM) face detection, multi or center also the same, sometime when shoot, and already focus accurately, the photo still out of focus. I also not sure why. Contrast detection should be quite accurate.. there's other factors like camera shake.. motion blur as well.Ooo, So right now what camera are you using? I'm using a Canon 550D, S90 and Iphone4 |

QUOTE(Wuahaha @ Jun 8 2011, 03:40 PM) Oh really ah? I always shoot with my GF1+20mm one handed. But I had to tie the neckstrap around my hand xD Ya lor... kinda difficult to shoot (since have to crop like hell later) to shoot dslr one handed blindly. In fact now I rarely use my GF1 already. Just use my wife's Nikon P300. Back to PnS haha. I see the word "Samsung" I bei song already muahaha ... their body looks ugly also ler. As for Samsung... besides the brand name ugly-fying the product.. I think the NX is less fugly than the G3 lo. |

QUOTE(Valentino46 @ Jun 8 2011, 06:07 PM) I fully agree with you... 200% agree with you about the annoyance/frustration/stupidity of the mirrorless products now. It's blatantly obvious ... considering the fact that the current players in mirrorless are consumer goods companies (and one half dead olympus) ... that their management sees mirrorless as an evolution of the compact point and shoot. Hence the products are targeted as such. I mean the could've just update the sensor on the GF1 and fix the EVF.. continue bundle with the 20mm f1.7 ... that's it... don't even have to retool but priorities went to the size war with Sony well into the realms of ridiculousness. Sony could've just strengthen their shortcomings with a 24/35/50 pancakes respectively.... But noooooo.... they went ahead with an even smaller camera..and prioritize funny lens.... and panny counter with a even smaller camera.. and so on. Even their step-up product like the G3 are obviously not designed for the enthuasiast.. no matter how good... I cannot live with a camera that looks like a spastic turtle. XZ-1 is interesting... if I'm a compact user/blogger, I reckon its a much better choice than the current mirrorless....very tempted but cannot live with DR of small sensor camera considering the junk that I shoot. Maybe the Nikon system will be interesting (provided their coolpix ppl dun touch it) since its a smaller than m43 sensor.. lens will be smaller which could be a strong foundation since sensor tech should progress faster. Or maybe even the rumored Pentax k-mount system since they already have some nice pancakes. Until then... maybe I'll burn more of my hard earned cash into my dslr. QUOTE(highwind85 @ Jun 8 2011, 08:28 PM) yeah....now they have a super expensive GH2 at enthusiast level, and a bunch of compact wannabe at entry level....sigh... Olympus is the underdog with no marny for R&D...ah well.. there's always the olympus jpegs.wonder what would olympus do...fight in the size war, or offer pro body for enthusiast... GH2 is a video camera. |

QUOTE(highwind85 @ Jun 8 2011, 08:59 PM) Well, GH2 is m4/3's best shot..giving great still photos and extensive video controls that can rival canon 60D... I reckon the GH2 doesn't make sense.. looks like a dslr... feels like a dslr... slightly smaller but still need same bag as a dslr but not a dslr.also has the highest score among m4/3 in dpreview...just that the price is crazy and people would rather go for DSLR than that... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « new full size photos from 43rumours... But gosh.... the GF3 look like a bar of soap. I cannot imagine how it'll look with anything besides the 14mm. |

QUOTE(Valentino46 @ Jun 9 2011, 01:45 AM) lolz,i like that sentence, look like slr, feel like slr,big like slr, cost like a serious slr(60d level),u gonna pay more for sensor "real estate" Since we're in the topic.... and sharing is caring. the only thing is the accuracy of contrast detection which i really long for i guess like highwind point out,its just the matter of time before the system mature enough to rival DSLR,but i not seeing that happen in really near future, for the meanwhile i think i just stick with xz-1,gonna get it this weekend pana, olym sony, please~~~you are not making a handphone or netbook now~~~give us something more sensible Here's some research that I tabulated sourced (I'm absolutely an@l about shutterlag and AF speeds) from digitalcamerareview.com » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(Valentino46 @ Jun 9 2011, 03:42 PM) weirdly our full blown dslr 600d has shutter lag worse than a xz-1,although its too small to call it a different Since you're getting a XZ-1 over the weekends.. mind PM'ing me on your thoughts? G3 manages 4.5fps,not bad.....but i suspect if follow panasonic tradition the buffer depth will be very shallow unlike dslr I'm particularly concerned over DR and AF speed at low lights (think outside in housing estate lit by street light at 10pm kinda low light) |

QUOTE(highwind85 @ Jun 13 2011, 03:52 PM) coz they realize the market for P&S->m4/3 is bigger than the market for DSLR->m4/3? Both Sony and Panasonic are consumer product companies with priority on volume. For them..they probably think that their urgency is to move the PnS users to mirrorless as soon as possible to protect their volume as those are being eaten by smartphone.and i have to say...they are using the 12.1 mp sensor to its fullest value... so many models based on the same sensor... I mean.. if we look at the entry level cybershots and lumix.... there's really no point in buying those anymore and Sony/Panny knows that. |
