QUOTE(logit85 @ Nov 19 2010, 11:47 PM) ok thanks i think plasma so much risk which i choose LCD OR LED LCD and LED both picture crisp ??? i prefer sony Personally, I can not stand the inferior picture quality of LCD. It's either Plasma or LED. Plasma got burn mark and reflective screen. LED cost far too much and too harsh to my eyes.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Nov 21 2010, 06:42 AM) That is not really 600Hz...something about 600Hz SUB-FIELD...whatever the hell that means. SONY 200Hz LCD still way smoother. I read somewhere Plasma Hz and LCD Hz are very different thing. And regardless of what Hz they talked about, when it comes to motion blur, Plasma almost always beat LCD. Correct me if I am wrong.

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Nov 22 2010, 01:23 AM) , i've been using P42S10K for a year now, with 10 hours Astro not to mention before using Astro, use normal TV with DVD player, i must say, i'm more enjoying Plasma over LCD, i even did 1 to 1 comparison on Plasma vs LCD to see what's the difference, and the most notable is the image ghosting from LCD, the tru-black of Plasma.hell... i definitely go for plasma over LCD kthxbai Yap, same here. Didn't know the different and don't trust the advertisement and salesman talk (only pushing what's good for his pocket and this no good, that no good etc) I too did side by side comparison on PQ. Once I understood what is tru-black, there is no going back to LCD for sure when watching movies. IMO, LCD is shockingly inferior but LED too expensive. My No.1 problem with Plasma is reflection and the burn mark does worries me a bit.

Watching Bluray, there is no doubt the Plasma has the big 'wow' factor, absolutely great.
But comparing CRT (one of the best from the old days, a big Sony) vs Plasma watching DVD, I somehow got the feeling it's better off watching CRT. And I suspect, when watching Astro or normal Satellite program, it may be the same or worst. Anyone else got this type of feeling?
BTW, I was watching the Panasonic 50U and the Samsung 6500. Both the same.

QUOTE(piscesguy @ Nov 26 2010, 08:15 AM) Astro/DVD will have better PQ on HD ready plasma. I don't understand. DVD is 520 lines. HD Ready Plasma is 720 line and Full HD is 1080 line. So regardless of which plasma you use, both have to process the DVD's 520 to display picture. So how can HDReady be better than FullHD in viewing DVD?

QUOTE(piscesguy @ Nov 26 2010, 08:42 AM) dvd is 480 line. A DVD is going to look at best on a 480p TV. 1080p TVs or upconverting DVD players will create too much scaling and noise in the image. Scaling is bad regardless how good the scaler is. You want to always display the video at its native resolution. I didn't know DVD is 480 lines because this wikipedia site mentioned 520 lines. To display picture on 1080p TV, you have to upconvert from 480 to 1080 To display picture on 720p TV, you have to upconvert from 480 to 720. So in either case, both have to undergo conversion. So why is it converting to 1080 is worst than 720? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_resolutionNow does anyone know how many lines are the transmission from station like Sun TV, CCTV etc? I don't seem to be able to find those information and my Mandarin is only ground level http://www.tv14.net/china-sun-tv/This post has been edited by Optiplex330: Nov 26 2010, 09:04 AM

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Nov 26 2010, 06:39 PM) Not agreeing or disagreeing, but this is an interesting comment... definitely a purist perspective. Same like playing CDs - some say AVR/amp should be on neutral,, never extra bass or treble - music is to be played the way it was encoded... True purist now discard CD and go back to analog LP turntable.

QUOTE(calvin_ng @ Nov 26 2010, 08:48 PM) the argument of DVDs quality playback on HDTV is the same old argument as watching VCD is as good as DVD... hmm... now all say VCD sucks... kekeke also the concept is also the same as playing a computer game at 320x240 reso on a HDTV is so pixelated... so if you wanna enjoy 1080p movies you can look at alternative Media player that support HD which the cheapest is like RM250... and can go up to RM5K I am slowing coming to the conclusion, for watching DVD, it may be better to watch it on CRT tv and not HD TV simply because native beats scaling anytime.

QUOTE(calvin_ng @ Nov 27 2010, 11:31 PM) Try to avoid vivid settings.... I bet if you use the standard profile it should be fine... Medically speaking, the older a person gets, the more sensitive are their eyes to light. So what appear OK to a youngster may not be OK to an elderly.

QUOTE(sonerin @ Nov 29 2010, 09:06 AM) I feel that the sharpness of led tv make it look fAke Seen Transformer on a LED lately and yes, I get that same feeling. I would describe it as "digital look" whereas the Plasma has that "organic look". CD music and LP music gave me the same feeling. Likewise, comparing Plasma from Samsung and Panasonic gave me the same feeling.

I think the worst fear of someone who are into Plasma is for all manufacturer to cease production of Plasma. Should that happens, I think someone may start crying in the street

QUOTE(calvin_ng @ Nov 28 2010, 09:49 AM) sometime you dont set the settings on the LED tv as shown on display sets... Display sets usually set it to very high contrast and vivid to the MAX... what I did is to tone down the settings in the settings menu like set to standard colour, reduce the backlight, reduce the colour from 80 down to 50 and contrast reduce by 20... the LED tv may have the best contrast but you do not need to set it to MAX... just like a FERRARI you do not need to drive it at 300++ KM/H everytime... relax.... Allow me to make a guess. You must be below 40 years old. Correct?
