At least we made the 2nd round. That Talaha dude did well against China and Iran. Hmmm... will these players be in the AFF Cup team? They seem to be training hard: http://www.facebook.com/nikefootballmy

They need to buff even more. But we're going against South East Asian players in the AFF Cup. They're all mostly of the same size. Except for the SG imports (dang).

In a physical sense I don't think we are as fit even if we are of the same stature. The Thais for example or mostly diminutive but solid. I don't know what kind of physical training the local boys go through but I do think they need to go on a proper diet regiment, and eat only nurtritional foods. Akmal Rizal for example isn't exactly the fittest looking bloke on earth. We did hire a new fitness coach in 2009 and perhaps that will pay dividens in time. I also think we could do a better job at building mental strength. The lads need to keep their composure and not wilt under pressure, or after going behind.

In terms of play, Rajagopal looks like he's first trying to make the team hard to beat. "If we don't concede, we don't lose", seems to be the philosophy. Reminds me of a certain Roy Hodgson. When we've achieved that, we then need to look at breaking teams down because from what little I've seen from the Asian Games, we tend to rely on counterattacks rather than passing the ball about, looking for cracks in the wall.

Yea, it's all about defending with Rajagopal. But I wouldn't mind if we counterattack like Germany or Hodgson's Fulham. We'll win matches then.

still ok la losing 3-1 even we play ultra cattenacio from start to finish.. if b4 we are like sandbags to those west-asia /east-asia nation

2-0 vs Japan

3-0 vs China with 8 men

3-1 vs Iran

if b4 this we usually get trash 4-0 minimum by those countries

you seem to have a very high standard on our team.. you expect us to steamrolled China with only 8 men?

strange..

on this topic... comparing apple with apple, we did improve from Doha 2006... so do SEA Games 2009 vs Sea Games 2007..

so let see our team's performance in AFF compare to 2008..

one of the most common critic to our previous National Teams is the lack steel.. so the approach taken by RG is a breath of fresh air.. we don't expect our team to steamroll every team like Manchester United do week in week out.. but to consistently play with a rigid preseveer and once in a while pull out a shock result against the odd.. like Hodgsons's Fulham use to do.. will do a lot to make us feel relieve and greatfull and will be very much appreciated..

Have you guys noticed that against Iran , we are stringing a..3rd team? Most of our players are out injured and suspended, and by that it's a great achievement , bar the scoreline. It's an improvement, but what I'd like to see is the improvement in the mental side.

When Malaysia were 8 men down you can see some of our players, were kicking the China squad down to the ground, we could've lived without that. It's one thing to lose, but to lose your head, that's very immature.
