I recieved my synology ds1511+ from hikari85 about 1 week back. I thought I'll post a mini review since I am slacking from work.

Seller/Buying Experience:
1. Very fast/bot-like response.
2. Shipping and handling smooth and fast, provided you pay up on time. :>
3. Pricing is very good. Not much difference from buying in ebay from US, but minus the shipping time and custom headache.

Synology ds1511+:
1. Setup is super easy. Up and running in 10 minutes. If you are using OSX Lion make sure you get the latest firmware (DSM 3.2) from their website. Lion insists on a new version of AFP not supported by previous DSM. You can tweak lion a bit to allow file sharing on old APF but time machine won't work. So get the new DSM.

2. The 1511+ is fast. I can get 100MB/s write and about 110MB/s read. Few things you should take note. If you are forking out rm3k+ to buy a fast NAS don't skim on the harddrives. I would recommend caviar black 2TB but anything that is not "green" should do alright. Another important thing is all RAID system on synology is software-based and we all know software raid is crap. Go non-raid if speed is the ultimate goal. Non raid is even faster than raid 0(completely useless) in synology. JBOD is ok too. Compared this to my DS210+ raid 1 with 2 WD green 2TB drives 50MB/s write and 70MB/s read.
