There should be one icon on the system tray for nvidia, when you hover it, it should list what program using the nVidia...

U2 only can cover 2 spot while NC2000 would cover almost all surface except battery part...

Base system device usually is card reader,

Try shutdown the notebook, unplug the battery, and hold the power button for couple seconds, then start it again and see can detect nvidia or not...

Haven't tried the 260.99, so far my friend still using 258.96
As for the cause, there might be a clue if you could remember the bsod error code.. |

It is dual core, its because hyper threading that its appears as quad core in task manager
2 physical cores + 2 logical cores... |
