Yes, I am new here. Hello everyone. smile.gif

Started getting interested into them recently. Looking for something to start working towards.

I just would like to ask a simple question first though. For example this shop, HobbyKing, is an overseas retailer. I want to know if there are any taxes imposed on the import of such items? Or is it on a what I see is what I pay basis (highly unlikely though... lol)?

Thanks! smile.gif

Thank you everyone for helping.

I'll start off by following QiW's advice to someone else and get these to start first:

Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 2) (v2 Firmware)
USB Simulator Cable RealFlight G4.5

And to get RealFlight G4.5 or something.

Thanks again.

Two questions.

What's the difference between Futaba 6EX Mode 1 and Mode 2?

What makes the Futaba 6EX more expensive than the Turnigy 9X?

Cheers

Ah cool. Yeah, that helped explaining the mode question in my head. It's basically the 'key bindings' of the remote, in PC gaming terms tongue.gif..

As for the difference with the Futaba 6EX and Turnigy 9X, will wait for QiW. smile.gif

Alright, I'm not made of money, so I'll get the Turnigy 9X + USB Simulator Cable RealFlight G4.5 to give it a go on the PC first.

Cheers

Curious QiW, what do you have as your main heli set-up?

I said main just incase you have other R/C helicopters. Wanted to know what setup are you using as you 'pride and joy'. smile.gif

What I might end up doing is skipping the smaller setups, play with the simulator first and then jump to a good setup..

Of course being me, this plan will happen a year from now, and most likely changed plans about a few times. LoL

When I do start I might look at the t-rex 500 clone at Hobbyking.

I've always been interested in air planes actually since young, something I enjoyed.. something about the sound of the spinning turbine etc. But my interests have always been limited to die-cast models and Flight Simulators on the PC with a joystick.

It's until recently I saw this cheap RM 70 metal body helicopter and started playing it a little did I have a look around. Then I saw this video of an Align T-Rex 600 (Airwolf) or something, and the sound of the rotors spinning up etc... lol... then was it realised, "You know? Helicopters are a good start, since it requires less space than an airplane."

Since there is the USB Simluator Cable and RealFlight, I was thinking that would be a good start. I'll most likely be stuck on that for at least a year, so that's plenty safe and with plenty of space. smile.gif

Yeah, planes are 100% easier to fly. I learnt that much from Flight Simulators as well. LoL

Also, I'll fly using USB first until I'm good then I'll move to the real thing. tongue.gif
