I am looking for a shop that sells Lipo Battery with warranty since the new one I bought just charges to 8.8V when it should be 11.1 V

Thank you
*
how much voltage per cell is that? are you sure you go the readings correctly? why not just go back to the shop for a replacement?
i don't think lipos sold in shops here(or anywhere) comes with warranty, in fact i haven't come across any rechargeable batteries that come with warranty. lipos are fragile(and unstable), it's not plausible for a retailer to provide warranty for it(unless it's really expensive).

It is a 3 cell 1500mAh lipo battery, when I bought it, the shop guy did check it and it was alright I think but after a charge at home and when I used for my plane, I noticed that the motor wasn't at full speed so I tried recharging but it only goes to 8.8V.

This was the first time I had bought a battery so maybe it was a rookie mistake.

The shop said they don't provide replacements

hmm....do you have those LED lipo batt checker(very useful) to check voltage per cell? or you could at least check with the shop to confirm what's wrong with the batt. any reputable shop would assist you on this.

if the shop tested it before selling to you, it's unlikely that the batt is faulty to begin with, and lipos - although unstable, doesn't really go faulty on the 1st few charge cycle. something else must be wrong in-between. how does the batt look(physically), is it bloated?

well it could be under/over charged at some point. i'm guessing a cell has failed (4.2v+4.2v+0.4v(failed cell)=8.8v). might wanna check that you charger is working correctly though. for the batt, bloated lipos are dead lipos. better throw away before it dies a flaming death.

Qiw, the sim cable that you use for your 8FG does it has an audio cable?

If it is, is that a stereo one or mono audio cable?

not sure if you guys know it already but the hobby store in Paradigm mall at PJ supplies WL V911 with all the spare parts you need for repairs.

ok I'm tempted.

just sharing info

Added on July 9, 2012, 12:16 pmok I don't really get it

what are the differences between WL V911 and Trex 100X?

I see a huge price difference on RM100
the unit looked and feels like the same.
everything included is close to similar.

what are the major differences in between them?

well, it's the same thing as everything else. what makes a b.u.m jeans cheaper than a levi's? what makes camel shoes more expensive than a bata? what makes a gibson more expensive than an epiphone?

brand names. and of course there's the build quality. named brand usually have better QC on assembly and parts.

Hehehe, you so care about your 8FG ah. I am using my Walkera radio for sim but think of an extra radio using my 8FG.

Actually what kind of FPV goggle are you using? Fat Shark OK ar?

fatshark is one of the popular/established brand in FPV .. so they cannot be that bad if at all .. hahahaha
the set up javen loh is selling is a 5.8 system .. not easy to deal with the inherent limitations but it is small and easy to place
price is very reasonable if all the stuff is in good condition ... dont expect the 100mW 5.8 transmitter to take u out too far laa .. 100-200m should be fine .. good enuff for the multicopter .. hahahahaha

Hahahaha, nothing can be hidden from you.
I know him actually and I have a feel on his system before. He let me test the goggle when he flew his quad. But one thing I dont like is the resolution of the goggle, quite on the low side and with a little of noise too. I am expecting the video quality like your GoPro videos in fact, heheheh am I over demanding?
By the way, is that possible to swap a higher power transmitter in to replace the 100mW one if I am going to get it?

well .. currently there are no "affordable" HD (DIGITAL) solutions for live transmission at hobby grade price tag
furthermore HD transmission requires high bandwidth and range is very limited for now
so u will have to live with some static and interference (ANALOG)
analog is much better in terms of fpv coz when signal degrades or get bad video will get noisy and bad instead of just cutting off in digital videos (u have time to turn back)

what u see is not resolution actually ... it is the field of view (size of the tv u are watching) ... most of the current standard fpv goggles are 640x480 res
mine has slightly bigger FOV .. the biggest one in the market is the fatshark base and aviator edition (available for HBK i think) but base has been discontinued and aviator oso coming to production EOL
the downside with bigger FOV is u can see more pixelated video with ha bigger screen coz res is the same as the ones with smaller FOV

as for range .. yes ... u can upgrade to the 600mW transmitter for longer range
fatshark transmission modules only comes in 100 and 600mW sets ... they use airwave modules which currently only comes in those 2 configurations

anyways ... his set is already SOLD !!!
so u have to look for something elsewhere tongue.gif
