Yes, I am new here. Hello everyone. smile.gif

Started getting interested into them recently. Looking for something to start working towards.

I just would like to ask a simple question first though. For example this shop, HobbyKing, is an overseas retailer. I want to know if there are any taxes imposed on the import of such items? Or is it on a what I see is what I pay basis (highly unlikely though... lol)?

Thanks! smile.gif

So far there is no such thing for all my orders, there is no tax imposed to me by HK.

My order limit is USD70 per order therefore the custom did not impose the tax to me as well.

even if they wanna tax u then rc models is 10% ... still cheaper than local .. hehehehe

i am totally sure customs knows all about ordering stuff from china/hong kong

AFAIK, the rule is - it must not above RM500 in total including items and shipping.

It is true lah if the tax is 10% but going there to claim your parcel is super troublesome. You have to spend some time and going here and there one. So try to avoid as much as possible tongue.gif Else pay someone to claim the parcel for you loh ......

But I think if just a few items inside even though it is slightly above the limit they still don't kacau one, so should be OK if you want to take risk smile.gif

Thank you everyone for helping.

I'll start off by following QiW's advice to someone else and get these to start first:

Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 2) (v2 Firmware)
USB Simulator Cable RealFlight G4.5

And to get RealFlight G4.5 or something.

Thanks again.

Two questions.

What's the difference between Futaba 6EX Mode 1 and Mode 2?

What makes the Futaba 6EX more expensive than the Turnigy 9X?

Cheers

Ah cool. Yeah, that helped explaining the mode question in my head. It's basically the 'key bindings' of the remote, in PC gaming terms tongue.gif..

As for the difference with the Futaba 6EX and Turnigy 9X, will wait for QiW. smile.gif

the turnigy is considered value for $$$ radio ..
FUTABA is BRANDED ... thats why it costs more
the 9X beats the crap out of the 6EX in features .. just not branded

if u search the internet ... u will find very reviews and feedback on the 9X
if u are willing to spend more then go for better known brands such as futaba .. hitec .. spektrum .. etc etc
receivers are cheaper too .. but there clone receivers for branded radios already nowadays ..

Alright, I'm not made of money, so I'll get the Turnigy 9X + USB Simulator Cable RealFlight G4.5 to give it a go on the PC first.

Cheers

good choice .. once u have made your 1st successful flight
u will learn to appreciate the extras in the 9X ... compared to the 6ex

i am using a futaba 8fg (now @8fg super).. the programming is very easy and intuitive
but u will have to fork out some for it laa .. i think rm1.3k or so now

and once u have done your 1st F8 nose in side ins .. u will learn to appreciate the FEEL of the sticks and bearing smoothness .. hehehehe
thats where branded names mid to high range comes in
