A friend (who is not really into photography) is selling his  AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR for RM400! I've seen the lens myself and its true that its rarely used. Hardly any scratch and no fungus.

Should I grab it or save a bit more to get Siggy/Tammy 70-300 with macro feature to pair with my D90 ?
*
the macro feature u wont be using regularly..
so with rm400 if u can get that lens then go for it!

i'm using d90. when i open my popapflash the shutter can only go until 200. but my friend can go untill 4000. izzit setting or my d90 have a problem?

QUOTE(Tony Stark @ Nov 18 2010, 07:35 AM)
i also would like to know the answer to this question

bcuz im having the same problem..just that i dont use the same model as urs
*
pop up flash can only support sync speed up until 1/200..
if u're using external flash then 1/4000 will be okay if the flash is powerful enough..

u guy know that light travels very fast right?
but after 1/250 the light wont be sufficient to reach the subject, esp when ur subject is far (when using pop up flash)
by getting an external flash, u can get power.. the flash will add more power to the flash/light that will make sure the light reaches the subject to catch up with the 1/4000 shutter..

but not all external flash can do it...
in nikon, its know as FP, its automatically enabled in sb600, sb700 and sb900.. other model ie sb30, sb400 i havent check yet..

thatis the logical part of the answer..
for the more 'technologycal' part u have to wait for someone else expert to explain..

I still laugh at Ken Rockwell's joke..

ie "when Ken Rockwell shoot brackets, all 3 pictures win 1st price in different categories"

Btw, d3100 also have the bracket function kah?
Haven't check it out yet..no1 here at my town have it..

Hi, i got a question to ask. I'm using an old nikon d70s camera. I seldom use it so there're many things i dunno. My question is how to shoot in a low light environment without using any flashlight?
*
if panorama, then long exposure/long shutter is the way to go..

QUOTE(akagidemon @ Nov 25 2010, 08:06 AM)
thank you for the kind remarks adriancs

just using a closeup filter with my kit lens. still considering which macro lens to go for. 90,105 or 200mm macro lens. any suggestions?
*
QUOTE(adriancs @ Nov 25 2010, 08:22 AM)
Personally I prefer longer macros, so I would choose the 200mm. The 200mm (or 150mm) gives you quite a lot of working distance so you don't have to get very near and scare away your subjects. But sometimes 200mm can be a little long physically, heavy and hard to position in certain ways to take the shot.

There is also the choice of 50, 55 and 60mm macros, which are "wide" macros and I find them to be quite useful too. You can take environmental macro shots with medium magnification and also use it as a general purpose medium speed normal lens. The bad part is that at 1:1 mag the 60mm has very little working distance, as close as just a few inches in front of the lens. Lighting then becomes difficult, or you might cast a shadow over your subject, or even scare it away (or get bitten by it, if you're photographing a snake!).

The 90/100/105 macro range is sort of a compromise in between both but generally also suffers from the short working distance problem.

My suggestion is to just use the kit lens for now. With the close-ups, you can get as close as twice life size on DX. Its a lot of money to spend just to get another 2x magnification to life size, and you'll probably need it for only 10% of the time. I carry a +4 closeup with the 50/1.8 all the time and it usually gets me to about 1:2 on DX, very very satisfactory for a <RM500 investment. The macro lenses stay in the studio, and only gets brought out on very specific purpose planned trips only which makes its cost vs. usage very uneconomical.
*

the 90/100/105 should be a good one for starter lah.. because the result from SP90 is satisying but the 105mm surely is a killer macro..

like this one, kelmarin dulu punya:
