A friend (who is not really into photography) is selling his  AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR for RM400! I've seen the lens myself and its true that its rarely used. Hardly any scratch and no fungus.

Should I grab it or save a bit more to get Siggy/Tammy 70-300 with macro feature to pair with my D90 ?

i'm using d90. when i open my popapflash the shutter can only go until 200. but my friend can go untill 4000. izzit setting or my d90 have a problem?

1 question that stays in my head for very long time..... There is rear mount filters? Or how does they add filter for those larger than 77mm? i.e 200mm F2 those big head bazooka

just using a closeup filter with my kit lens. still considering which macro lens to go for. 90,105 or 200mm macro lens. any suggestions?

Personally I prefer longer macros, so I would choose the 200mm. The 200mm (or 150mm) gives you quite a lot of working distance so you don't have to get very near and scare away your subjects. But sometimes 200mm can be a little long physically, heavy and hard to position in certain ways to take the shot.

There is also the choice of 50, 55 and 60mm macros, which are "wide" macros and I find them to be quite useful too. You can take environmental macro shots with medium magnification and also use it as a general purpose medium speed normal lens. The bad part is that at 1:1 mag the 60mm has very little working distance, as close as just a few inches in front of the lens. Lighting then becomes difficult, or you might cast a shadow over your subject, or even scare it away (or get bitten by it, if you're photographing a snake!).

The 90/100/105 macro range is sort of a compromise in between both but generally also suffers from the short working distance problem.

My suggestion is to just use the kit lens for now. With the close-ups, you can get as close as twice life size on DX. Its a lot of money to spend just to get another 2x magnification to life size, and you'll probably need it for only 10% of the time. I carry a +4 closeup with the 50/1.8 all the time and it usually gets me to about 1:2 on DX, very very satisfactory for a <RM500 investment. The macro lenses stay in the studio, and only gets brought out on very specific purpose planned trips only which makes its cost vs. usage very uneconomical.

depends on ur budget la. if got money then go for sb600 or sb900. if not that much money nissin di622 mark 2 also ok. or the nissin di866 mark 2.
