When will we be able to walk into a shop and cash and carry an iphone 4 instead of chasing around digi and maxis outlets, making bookings and going early to queue? Is the shortage real or is it due to telcos holding back stock to create excitement? Perhaps until iphone 5 comes out Malaysians will still be begging in line to buy an iphone 4.

Wonder of wonders! The permanent "iphone 16GB and 32GB out of stock" sign at Digi Bukit Tinggi opposite Maybank has been taken down!

How long does it usually take for the MNP? I just did mine on Saturday, still waiting for the SMS. Also, how to check on the status(if rejected, how would u know?).

Also, now I think most Digi outlets have stock. Went at Pyramid to get mine.

MNP usually takes 24 hours. My Celcom no. was ported in just 5 hours. If rejected you'll still get a SMS telling you why.

The best time to buy iphone 4 is after iphone 5 is launched. Then you can drop in to Maxis/Digi shop or reseller and buy outright without contract instead of queuing up early in the morning to buy a >RM2000 phone, running around from shop to shop like a beggar and forced to buy on contract. An even better time to buy is when the iphone 5 starts selling in Malaysia, then price of iphone 4 will drop and even Tesco will be selling it! Yes, Tesco sold iphone 3gs at discounted price when iphone 4 came here.

@KennyKB it would be nice to mention where you are, since in Malaysia, Tesco isn't an approved Apple partner for iPhones.

also, the best time to buy any new tech is when it comes out, cos then you will use it to its fullest potential, right?
*
Why, I'm right here in Malaysia. Approved partner or not, Tesco was selling iphone 3gs late last year, 32GB for RM1800 which was a very good deal. Probably Maxis unloaded to them. This is not my imagination, I almost bought one.

The iphone 4 is already so advanced, do most ordinary users need to go higher? There's no 4G network in Malaysia at the moment and the pseudo-4G YES network cannot be used on iphone.

How will they know it has been jailbroken and restored unless you are foolish enough to admit it?

Sorry a bit confuse about the rate and price.
It's written that the price of iphone 32GB if you use Ivalue 88 is 1890rm right?
so if you total all the price together you need to pay :
Iphone 32gb = 1890rm
Ivalue contract for 24 months = 58 x 24 = 1392rm
So the total amount that you need to paid is about 3282rm

Isn't it quite expensive if you compare it by buying an Iphone from a normal retail which price is around 2.6k rm each?

confuse >.<

Don't forget the monthly contract payment comes with voice, sms and data services. If you don't need data and your voice/sms monthly bill is much less than RM58 then try to buy one without contract from Maxis or Celcom. The retail price for 32GB is RM2590.

But Iphone without Data Plan = Useless.
*
No, not useless. For those who have wi-fi at home and in the office and only need 3G occasionally they can get by without a monthly data plan. You can buy short term plans like 1 hr, 1 day or 1 week as you need it. For those on Digi prepaid, it's pay as you use (RM0.10 per 10kB) capped at RM3 or RM5 a day depending on prepaid type. I'm on wi-fi most of the time and for occasional 3G use like reading/sending email, reading news, IM, etc on the road my data cost comes to less than RM10 a month.

guys...is 32gb necessary??

Depends on how much music you have. This takes the most space. If you don't think it will exceed 100 albums 16GB will be fine. Iphone memory cannot be upgraded so you need to allocate for future.
