QUOTE(bwan @ Jan 30 2007, 01:34 AM) Maybe, when our children doesn't have to worry much about having a good life even if they're not having 8As or 9As in SPM. In most developed countries, you can have a good salary even if you're a construction worker. Maybe , but it then why we were so great in the 70/80's when wages were lower and there was no pro soccer ! The reverse is true . The more money came in , the worst our standard become ! |

Nowadays, all I see is the media and gov. try to make sub standard players / teams into something big .
That's how desperate we become . In the past Merdeka drew the best teams from all over , even European countries used to send teams. Now crap . POOOOOOOOT ! |

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 31 2007, 10:15 AM) yes, and if we stop dreaming, we will never acheive anything. This is the mentality that is hindering our football. we lost, and ppl start blasting saying that we don't have anything and not good enough and start telling their friends about it, and the end result? less ppl playing football, and less talented ppl getting picked. ppl like these only talks and talks and talks, but they don't do anything for the development of football in the country. they say that they are football fans, but they never even go to a local match, instead drinking beer in front of telly watching EPL. Dey kici, want to compare them mmg cannot lor, but at least give sum support. True dat . it is a vicious circle . |

Actually to say that we should dream on is a bit misleading , what we should do is look to the past for a guide on how to successful , as this was a FACT not a dream .
Look at the past models , examine how it was that we could produce not just 11 great players but a WHOLE squad , very often we would put out " B " sides which were very competitive even against some of the best in Asia. We have a guide , let's follow it ! Look to the past as a guide for the future . This post has been edited by Haunkiem: Feb 1 2007, 07:38 PM |

in today's world maybe , 25 years ago - NO !
May I add also that today's Malay and Indian players are nothing compared to yesteryear . I can't even name 1 member of the MY team that played the game x SG . They can't even smell the socks of guys like Mokhtar , Bakri , Jamal Nasir , Torairaju etc and RTM / TV3 group : why not do something useful and give the youth of today some real inspiration - SHOW SOME CLASSIC GAMES FROM MALAYSIA'S GLORY DAYS - VS. ENGLAND , IN THE MERDEKA TOURNAMENT , VS. SOUTH KOREA , EVEN THE STATES IN THE OLD MALAYSIA CUP etc. You have nothing to lose and all to gain : ratings up , locals inspired and know they don't need no foreigner , you kick start the rebuilding of Malaysia . Sheesh talk about getting a clue . This post has been edited by Haunkiem: Feb 3 2007, 02:47 AM |

I don't think it was in the 70's , was the 80 or 81 .
Boca won , forgot the score , Mokh wasn't playing but Maradona was . |

I agree Bro .
not as if we have nothing , we have a model for success already , our great pass . Shiet man , that M'sia could have beaten many of today's EPL sides . Fulham , Watford , Sheffield , M'boro , bar the top 4 . Prime Chung Wah was better than FL . Prime Mokhtar better than Owen . Yup I'm serious . |
