Forte vs Inspira .... close fight

Hope proton really look into the quality when localizing especially after the first batch (rumor to be 90% fully imported) are done with.

Naza Kia , they have to really prove themself here , Forte is a great car getting alot of awards, alot of eyes are watching.

I don't like the feeling of 2.0 Inspira having a close price to 2.0 FORTE , as far as we know Proton is a manufacturer while Naza is just an assembler, Inspira should be place at a cheaper price bracket and further more Inspira is having lesser useful acessories compare to FORTE eg Full air-Bag , Corner break assist etc...

On the electronic acessories point of view, I don't have high confidence in both Naza and Proton, one is inexperience while another gives bad experience so for this point nothing much to argue both arn't good in the league to compete. And I doubt proton is good in diagnosing electrical related issues , on the other hand never did heard Lancer have serious electronics related problem so assuming the works of ECU , harness and gadgets are good to sustain till EOL.

Inspira expected to sell like hot cakes just like Wira , most likely 2nd hand value would be quite good . As long they don't end up like fail models: perdana, Waja 1.8 , Putra (quite a good one in my opinion but dunno why discontinue).

As for FORTE they need to keep up and brush up the customer service and ensure quality before handling to customer , attend to manufacturing defects ASAP !! 2nd hand value unknown, most of FORTE owner like the car and feature which over rule the 2nd value. assembling have lesser issues to look into especially when the whole chain start from Supply Chain Management and Quality Control

If I am in TS's shoe I will test drive both car till mad before placing order.

Bro Kia/Naza worst la you can hardly book an appointment for your car to be serviced. You have to book for an appointment 2 - 3 weeks and you are not too sure whether you are available on that day.
*
Please do let me know which branch you went to and can' book an appointment ...
just Service my car today and got my car out in less than 2 hour, done with alignment, full service, tyre rotating ....

So if you have thing to post, please post thing with evidence and not a blant statement without any proof

Just tell us which branch let's make a call to book for service

Added on January 24, 2011, 9:33 pmFor new buyer the 6 speed auto is a great thing to have but more tender care have to be taken... else history will repeat itself -> City Gear Box issue

Nice ride u bought, but for me buying car is no try2 thing..look at those who try to buy spectra, elantra, at that time both cars are better specs than waja..but a lot regret later
*
Yah is more of a personal preference, some prefer to take some risk , while some will take in features as consideration, while alot give a passes to local brands and opted for T & H even it is a smaller segment vehicle...

It was quite a good example you have given on Korean cars, as for Proton you will cry if you have purchase Perdana, Waja at time it is one of the cheapest 2.0 car while another Lancer copy.

Added on January 24, 2011, 9:48 pmFORTE - > quite proven around the world, local content is minimal

Inspira -> Lancer is well proven around the world, but with increasing local content how will it perform we have to see.

On service I still see more of tak apa attitude from Proton - It is proton quality la what you exect sound familiar ?, so far Naza had place a good effort thou there's a few bad apples. Proton more branches.

Expertise in solving complex issue, I think both fair quite the same, One need advice from Jap another from Kr.

Spare parts definitely Inspira would have more... but major parts like gear box might need to wait as well, unless recon units

So make your judgement biggrin.gif

Which kid, titarium, maybe I give example of kia u don't like, but can u please named kia cars that have great resale value in malaysia...or please anybody named it
*
I not defending Kia as a whole , for me I place car features more priority over 2nd hand value , booking was made was because good review globally especially SG and European both are fussy ppl's market....

As I say there are ppl buying car not depending on resell value alone - I would have gotten City instead, and Korean was never having GREAT RESELL same goes to Proton PERDANA, WAJA 1.8, TIARA ... -> good resell?

Good resell for Proton were Wira & Saga , so not all proton have good resell after all

FORTE was given a chance due to the review globally, and how well they bounce back during recent years eating up the Jap market Globally

I once had a Perdana and the resell wasn't good as well, lucky it was the first batch not the V6 else really dunno how to sell, My mom is having a Waja tiny bit here and there but so far is a good car for town drive cruising on highway but lousy over taking responds are weak

If you think I am bashing proton, I suggest you read through my opinions, I am providing my opinion on how I rate in between Kia Forte vs Proton Inspira

There's so many consideration to take into not just resell when getting a car at this range, prioritize it then you'll know what car suite you most:
- Driving Style
- Family or Individual car
- Car modification ability
- Engine Power & Pick Up
- City vs Highway %
- Safety Features -> crash rating, airbags , TSC etc
- Boot Space
- Passenger Space
- Resell Value
- Period of use
- Gadgets -> GPS, CD changer, Anti Glare Mirror, auto-fold, Push Start etc
- Distributor or Manufacturer's reputation
* I have given my opinion on the item above

City is CVT, forte is conventional 6 speed torque converter doh.gif

also, i have a city VTEC, my mileage is 100k+ km in less than 3 years, no problem with the gearbox...
those who have CVT gearboxes knows how to take care of it
*
I am comparing the conventional 4 speed ...
As I say more tender care have to be taken, such as: oil change at stipulated time, clean drain, specific a type of oil only etc

Where else the older generation Gear box is more robust -> Kam Chak in canto , can exceed 10% mileage will not cause much issue compare to a much complex gears of 6, a wider range of gear oil normal quality also ok ....

Wanna know why alot of Jap cars Gear box can stay so long? one of the reason here is - a matured 4 speed gear box which is robust.

By now with new Technology manufactures able to build more gear in a single unit at a cheaper cost, but the technology isn't as matured compare to a conventional 4 speed thus more care have to be taken.

Hehe...like I said before about value for money...but please can anybody point out one single kia or hyundai that have great resale value, yes tiara perdana n juara, how about one kia
*
I get your point you are a resell value priority person

DO quote me on this: Value for MONEY isn't totally about Resell Value

you are trying to ding out pass history without considering the recent improvements, take in comparison locally and globally. Both have improve but how much is justifiable.... no one car manufacturer goes all the way up Giants like Toyota dips down last year.

If you are expecting FORTE to repeat itself like spectra, sorento, then probably better don't get a FORTE else everyday nightmare .....on the other hand Proton is having a total clean records?

I think among all proton model, Inspira is model like copying machine.  Perdana can't compare with it.
So, it couldn't have same fate at all.
*
FYI - Perdana was a copy cat of Mitsu Eterna

Got the 1st batch Inspira ? - congrats man

I am worried for the later batches, where more local content are taking place .... then we see lower quality parts thou it look the same because the supply chain have to go through so many filter (under table) ... Proton really need to bring back more confidence in this area, so far so good saw some improvements, maybe more transparency is involve .... I am still speculating

I respect Korean and Japs alot their national car is their pride ... unlike Malaysian quite a number of proton driver have to get proton because no other choice, national pride still isn't high.... by the way after so many years still copying hard to be proud also rite .... I tot there's change when Gen2 & Exora was launch

How many % Perdana copy Eterna ?

Honestly speaking, I buy Inspira because of copying Lancer, include those parts.
*
As far as I know at least the engine and gallant platform but what's the % must ask Perdana enthusiat or Proton insider they have a better idea

as for your Inspira I suppose the obvious change is the RIM very likely from JRD ? you can check even it is so call CBU or 95% local content for 1st batch RIMS are most likely changed
