what's your ISO and shutter speed? under bright sunlight, if ISO and shutter speed is still unable to let u maintain your large aperture, then there's nothing u can do in camera, the next step is to get an ND filter..
I guess it has nothing wrong with ISO and shutter speed. I set my camera for Auto Exposure. So it should select correct shutter speed/ISO for me. If I use 1/2000 f2.8 and 1/1000 f4.0 at ISO 200, both should produce the same brightness of photos but it is not. Hmm...Added on November 13, 2010, 6:44 pm
