QUOTE(fansoption @ Dec 5 2010, 08:29 PM) i would say YES balance perfectly with the a33/a55. the F58 is just TOO BIGG and heavy, really IMBA. i havent tried the F42 on my a33 but im assuming it would be in between. i'll say if you dont have a flash yet, the best isto get the F42 should be good enuf and balance if you already do and have extra cash and love to go jalan2 shoot light just get the F20. here link for a good review (http://alphastrobist.wordpress.com/review-hvl-f20am/) see for urself, how IMBA is the F58 with a33/a55 and how HVL-F20: +GN20 +higher than popup = reduce chance to get Red Eye +use AAA battery (doesnt suck up camera's battery) +very light and compact +if use in burst mode can get up to 3frames +can bounce in normal horizontal plane +AAA battery can last very long (i shot more than 200 pics yesterday + nearly 100 pics with the flash today no charge battery still could go) -GN20 cant bounce high -cant bounce sideways (cant turn head) -cant know how much battery life (so as the F58) -cant use as trigger on body <a850 -might cause hard shadow (see pic sample above) -direct flash may cause sakit mata sample from a33 and f20, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

ahtiven : yes crop lens on FF will turn them to crop QUOTE(chiahau @ Dec 5 2010, 10:06 PM) Somehow, I would not hesitate getting the F58am for my A55 if i were to get it lol. haha i forgot to say imbalance is oso bcoz of its weight, probably you could balance in normal horizontal plane but in vertical is quite hard (probably for me It not reli that BIG lol. but ergonomics wise, mmg f42 would look nice la lolz. seriously i hardly use my F58 now p.s. ~ probably wanna buy the off flash cable and mount the F20 |

QUOTE(ahtiven @ Dec 5 2010, 10:36 PM) do people still use manual lens nowadays? o.O err, for other than Sony, they have to MF on Zeiss lenses. the Sony 135mm STF is also a MF lens. also there are people using rangefinder cameras which are MF, also more than some still have fslr. MF is fun weyh QUOTE(ahtiven @ Dec 5 2010, 10:36 PM) i actually think f58 on a33/a55 is quite awesome minus the weight. like you said f58+a55+cz24mm. people would think "wtf nowadays flash also got built in sensor" haha nice one fansoption : miss Lexus ?? ahtiven : nice , please post more |

albnok : nice simple review. indeed Zeiss is GOOD
Mr.Wang : one BIG happy family QUOTE(chiahau @ Dec 7 2010, 12:19 AM) Tak. im using a33 and 90% of the time use live view as it is the bigger EVF and last time can shoot 500+ pics + lots video leh, still have 20% battery left. also did playback the pictures and video, use pop-up flash. non-SLT/NEX shouldnt worry much, but extra battery i'd say is a must Live View eats a bit more batt than usual and I shoot from morning to night de. Just now test fire my A580. Added on December 7, 2010, 9:18 am QUOTE(8tvt @ Dec 7 2010, 08:58 AM) i dunno about this but sometimes in some condition the output is abit different. probably the camera tends to compensate the brightness of the EVF/live view. the output sometimes brighter , not to say overexposed but not as what i want This post has been edited by mastering89: Dec 7 2010, 09:18 AM |

QUOTE(chiahau @ Dec 7 2010, 09:31 AM) If A77 is SLT, then no worries, Sony might improve their EVF lol. perhaps if possile they put both EVF and OVF or id they want more $$ , external OVF Furthermore, with the market's trend now, more inclined to A55, I think sony might scrape OVF production. Or perhaps a DSLT with OVF lol. QUOTE(nevermine @ Dec 7 2010, 09:40 AM) Hi all, im new to DSLR world and i bought A550 to be my 1st camera. not much different if u dont plan to upgrade for fullframe cameras. i wonder any1 using 50mm F1.8 lense here? how much is it? by comparing with the F1.4 lense, how can i see the diff? (since the price diff so much, and sry abt the lack knowledge of the Focal... ==) is there any sample photo? thanks^^ 50mm f1.4 -sharp even at aperture f1.4. -better bokeh (blur blur effect) -better built (body structure) -comes with hood -full frame lens - SAL 50mm f1.8 SAM -not a fullframe lens -SAM lens (can autofocus with NEX with adapter) -shorter minimum focusing distance (iinm) -cheaper -abit noisy AF -sharp output at f2.5 the |

QUOTE(nevermine @ Dec 7 2010, 11:08 AM) hi mastering89, thanks for the info i suggest if u have enuff budget for the SAL50 f1.4, better get a flash (HVL F42) and pair with the 50mm f/1.8. can do more stuff with them get something which u NEED and if have extra $€¥ get the things u WANT. the 50mm f1.8 is more than enuff for me. but last time i didnt consider and just buy, i end up selling it bcoz dont like the range/wideness. play2 wiyh ur kitlens first and only figure out ur desired focal range (24mm/28mm/35mm/50mm/85mm/etc) This post has been edited by mastering89: Dec 7 2010, 11:26 AM |

QUOTE(nevermine @ Dec 7 2010, 11:57 AM) hi alucard_my,thanks for the info. thats what annoying me dont follow other people too much, different people have different preference. u utilize your kitlens fully then u know your preferred focal length, your needed speed (aperture), whether u need or not the expensive2 lenses, which lens/flash to buy. 50mm is nice, but some people may not like it, too tight on APS-C bodies. Some prefer 35mm focal and sony just come out with the new SAL35 f1.8, u go try play2 first whether save 1st or just go for F1.8 SAL50 f1.4 = 50mm f/1.8 + HVL F42 (the price) yea have to think twice or even more btw, i wonder what is the 2nd lense normally people will go after kit lense? is it 50mm? besides, you mentioned the flash. i wonder what can HVL-F20AM do? is it better than the internal flash? bcoz im going to help my fren on shooting his wedding dinner, and i've consult a seller about it and the boss told me that at least HVL-F42AM can do so can i just use internal flash? PS: i've bought my A550 for about 3 months ++ and i rarely use the flash, just play ard the ISO or exposure... thanks for consutation and sorry if too much questions for the F20 refer my post here (link) the internal flash is good, but might give harsh flash makes people's face seem oily and sometimes they tutup mata , sakit woh QUOTE(Mspot @ Dec 7 2010, 12:53 PM) i don't specifically hate flash, just dun like lugging another bulky item . bought the a33 partially due to the smaller size. hehe. u should have a look at the HVL-F20 flash just using the built-in flash now, so the light is quite harsh. and i dunno where to find a diffuser for that. would you happen to know where to get this accessory? seems there alot of praises for the tamron. in one of the reviews for the 50mmf1.8, it did say that at f1.8, the sharpness dwindles and f2.8 is the max aperture for good sharpness. i have been wondering if the tamron can completely replace the kit lens plus the 50mmf1.8. thanks for the confidence vote. i think i'll just skip the 50mm and target the tamron. btw, the kit lens that i have seems to jerks a little (i think at 45mm) when turning the zoom dial. is this a problem? checked with the demo sets at the shops and it seems to have same issue. the diffuser for the pop up flash got sell in the garage sales part there, but be careful becoz for sony they need a mount for it and if u lose it susah . i lost mine and gave the diffuser to my Nikon friend QUOTE(shootkk @ Dec 7 2010, 01:45 PM) Actually I like the bokeh on the 50mm f1.8 better. Those of you not planning to go FF and does not need to go low light without flash ALL THE TIME can opt for the 50mm f1.8 Wah! Zeiss poisoning!!! I am already so smitten with the 24mm f2 Zeiss already!!! When my wife saw the picture of the lens the first thing she asked is : How much is it? When she found out the price, she said : Don't you dare buy it! slow slow poisen her |

QUOTE(zstan @ Dec 7 2010, 11:18 PM) but comparing 7D n 300s n 550 is really a joke la. like u said, price wise already different. in terms of specs, all 3 also different. lawl. so who's the winner? i lazy go buy d. my mistake to buy before peek also they said the a550 dont have the top LCD panel thingy. IMHO i dont think needed that, or the shutter count. its just easier if i wanna see/edit my settings by see to the big LCD or the viewfinder. with tilt-able LCD its double the size of the top panel LCD i had been given chance to shoot with D80s and pening2 with the layout and stuff. usually with my a33/a350 i just view the settings from the LCD, but with the d80s cant. quite some time to figure out, but the D80s has very good grip chiahau : naisss , i wait for 31st DEC and celebrate new year with my ice cream kysham : Mr.Wang : how far can the lights go? err guide number hazril : at the end of this month's review they said to review the DSLT next This post has been edited by mastering89: Dec 7 2010, 11:33 PM |
