noprob: I set my ISO to Auto when using flash for events - it usually picks a high ISO to expose the ambient light correctly (instead of using a slow shutter speed.)

cjlai: I like #3, it shows its effort!

kopitiam: Where was this? It looks like you should've shot wider or tighter.

d4rkholeang3l: Funny how, the tilt/slant works here. Though the light is just a bit harsh on her face. You can still fix this by using the Dodge tool, set to Midtones. Dab it lightly on her face to lift the shadows.

gjtan: The snowman's not white enough. Overexpose the shot slightly, and change the WB.

eddybeh: The 85mm F1.4 ZA doesn't have an AF motor. However, it has a loud screw-drive, which gives the impression of slowness. When compared to the Zeiss 135mm F1.8 however it did not seem very slow.

shootkk: Well that is some pretty advanced reading!

I didn't realize that the Zeiss 24mm F2.0 SSM was pretty devoid of bokeh CA (though, to be honest, I wouldn't mind if it did - it adds a flavor.) But yes, definitely good clean bokeh. Didn't notice the vignetting, either.

mastering89: Brightline bokeh is ugly. It makes your bokeh distracting and un-gentle.

Bokeh CA (where out-of-focus edges have a green/purple tint) is quite pleasant though, especially from the Minolta classic lenses. Especially so when the background is a tree, and the edges get a green border.

SouthernAllStar : That's most probably a dust speck on your sensor. Have you tried with other lenses? Is the spot still there when you use another lens? If it is, then you need to clean your sensor.

Can use a blower and clean it up yourself. Pretty easy.

1) Make sure your camera battery is fully charged.
2) Get a blower ready (those where you squeeze a bladder and air gushes out from a nozzle). Give it a few blow just to test that you have no foreign matters, like dust or water.... or ants inside. If theses things kena your sensor.... doh.gif
3) Put your camera into cleaning mode (refer to your manual).
4) Remove the lens. You will be able to see the sensor now. DO NOT TOUCH THE SENSOR.
5) Use the blower and blow some air onto the sensor. Do not allow the nozzle to touch the sensor, or else there is a possibility you might scratch the sensor... and that is going to be very expensive.
6) Turn off the power of the camera.
7) Reattach your lens onto the camera body.
8) Shoot some more photos to check if the dust particles are still there. If yes, repeat the whole process again.

It looks like a lot of steps. But to be honest, you just have to be careful and think about what you are doing. That's all. It is actually not complicated at all. Just be careful.

Oh, and please.... don't do this in a dusty place..... tongue.gif

Yes, you can. Just follow the video by sifu albnok on how to clean your sensor using a blower on the first page of this thread.

To cut down glare from light source coming at an indirect angle. The glare can cause ghosting and flare in your final photo. smile.gif

Lens hood is used to lessen the chances of getting flare in your pics. They serve to prevent light from hitting the lens at such an angle as to produce flare and/or ghosting.

They work most of the time for most lenses but if you know your lens very well, you could probably do just as good a job using your hands. smile.gif

the thing is, i never bump to such cases.. most often i not attach it..
and lenses got a different size of hood.. just not very sure how efficient it is..

even minolta prime got small built-in hood.. why zoom lenses require long² one?
won't it lessen the light source for certain cases?

8tvt : No lar.. won't lessen the light source as telephoto lenses usually have a narrow angle of view. The hood will not block the view, else you will see vignette.
