Hi there guys, I've just started collecting scale figures, was just wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers on taking care of them? These babies aren't cheap, and I don't want them to just crack after a few years and I'll have to throw them away then. (I'm a perfectionist lol.
Currently, I display them on a open shelf in my room with my air-cond on 12 hours per day, and blocked from sunlight by a curtain. Will that be okay? I can deal with dust which can be swept away using a brush. Was just wondering whether the air-cond will harm the figure. And yeah, I would like to know if there's any display case other then the IKEA ones, don't really like it. Thanks. |

QUOTE(shephard86 @ May 25 2013, 02:15 PM) Bro, I'm in the same situation with you leh...... I've still got 9 to 10 girls on the way. Haha, money is a big concern to me last time, but since now I have a monthly allowance due to my scholarship, I can afford to buy figures already. Thank god I don't have tons of figures I like, or feel like must get. The cheap price on Madoka tempted me, but I find it overally untidy and don't really like the wings and bow. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 25 2013, 05:33 PM) I have allowance in addition to my monthly pocket money from parents, totally over RM 1.3K. But that money covers everything from my figure shopping to hostel fees. But yeah, can really spend on figures with that scholarship money. |

QUOTE(shephard86 @ May 25 2013, 05:34 PM) Humidity will damage the painting of the figure as well, it will make the dust stick on the surface of the figure and make them hard to clean off. Actually when cleaning the figure you can't use tissue, brushes or clothes. You can get a small vacuum cleaner for cleaning keyboards to clean them. But when the dust stick on the figure, it is impossible to clean it using that. you'll need to rub them off. at the short term you might not see any big damage. But at long term your figure will look old. About the UV, we can just reduce it to the minimum, can't prevent it. Only if you're like me, for those precious figure I'll seal them in my cabinet and I don't display them. So I gather dry room is okay? Didn't know that, guess I really have to get a sealed cabinet now. Thanks for the info. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 28 2013, 06:22 PM) Those melons. I invested some extra bucks on momo, PO-ed 2, planning to sell when price goes up. *prays Just wondering, where do we go when kena kastam tahan? Just started collecting lol, don't know much of this stuff yet. I've got a few POs edi, summore bidding on Yahoo Auctions for Kirino Meruru cosplay ver. I just make sure each parcel is less than RM500, and ship separately, will that solve the problem of kena tahan kastam? QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 28 2013, 07:03 PM) I'd rather prefer the shipping company to have my money rather than the customs; and if customs stop it you have to drive all the way to their office to pick them up, think about petrol cost. I wish Max Factory would make more high end, complicated figures like Sheryl Nome, it's simply beautiful.
Didn't go for it because the face didn't seem right to me. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 29 2013, 01:51 PM) 1 simple clue for everyone, Good Smile's figures price usually maintain a stable price or enter bargain bin except online exclusives, especially since they screwed up BRS animation over a year ago. Saber Cuirassier also showed no signs of price hike yet, and IMO the only saber which the price will go up again is once again the Distant Avalon (which i think is more valuable than Golden Caliburn). Saber Triumphant Excalibur's price is still stable also, at RM 400 range. I dont really listen to rumors, i monitor the figure market and various other forums myself to predict what will happen. How bout Max Factory? Look at Kureha's price now. So far i only know the companies with potential price surge after release is Alter/Hobby Japan, Orchid Seed/Amakuni and Native. Alpha Max's mainstream figures, PLUM, Fap Company, FREEing, price also drop kaw kaw. Im still waiting to see how the new companies Lechery (Kaitendoh renamed) and Arcadia (Yamato renamed) will end up. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ May 29 2013, 04:28 PM) I agree with exile. Suka = beli, don't think about the resale value, cause if you really like them, why are you thinking of selling them already? Those I like one sure buy d, those with potential to rise + nice enough d, can consider buy for resell, if price don't go up then keep it lah. That is, if you got extra bucks lol. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ May 29 2013, 04:36 PM) Max Factory is more of the unpredictable kind; Kureha is kinda old already, year 2008 i think. 5 years old leh, of course rare and expensive lah. Makes sense. Oh I don't care as long as they come out awesome figures. And regarding predicting max factory's figures, read this. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=60670149 *must stop surfing Amiami few times a day. Now got new Saber, by Alter. Not going for it, too boring pose. This post has been edited by Flame Haze: May 29 2013, 04:40 PM |
