yea there is a new update. new one is 1.5.3.10103_100. I used to be able to connect to kies but after upgrading its stuck at "connecting to device".
*update* zzzzz got kies to recognise my phone and stop mtp application from flickering to homescreen and back to mtp again.
i reformated the internal sd and had to do a factory wipe. Samsung has sold millions of the galaxy s and still cant get kies to be user friendly. Instead of making it look nice they should just pay attention on making it just work

Flash a new rom every night? Wow, thats it im going to try it.
I am on official DXJG4. 1) Should I downgrade to the earlier eclair before updating to froyo? 2)When the official malaysia froyo comes out, and im on another country's froyo, must I downgrade to eclair before updating to froyo again? 3) Have i got this correct, use 803.pit to upgrade to froyo and 513.pit for downgrade to eclair? 4) Main page says use pit 513 or flashing will fail, but on samfirmware they provide pit 512 for DXJG4.

Done updating to froyo. Seems much smoother than stock eclair. Menus are more colourful. No more dragging down notification bar to mount usb, its more user friendly now. Quadrant score on stock official froyo = 1013. 3 button recovery still here. And after installing flash can now watch youtube vids on browser but sadly its laggy. Bring on 2.3 )

Anyone else disappointed with flash performance? The only reason i wanted froyo was to be able to watch youtube videos directly from the browser but wow, what a dissapointment.

QUOTE EDIT: BTW, DOC'S GONNA TAKE DXJPA --- our froyo as his v9 base!!! rclxm9.gif That means as long as i get 2e working, i can get doc v9 by just installing the doc update.zip over my stock froyo?

go to 'my files' on your sgs and see if update.zip is there. If its there then your update zip is already in ur internal sd. if not then go to my files -> sd and move the update.zip to my files. done.

To those having problems updating through kies, did you disable ryanza lagfix or voodoo lagfix before starting?

Do u mean when you connect to kies the screen keeps flashing? I had the same thing. Something to do a file with over 16 characters, Im not sure what. But to solve it just format your internal sd and then try.Worked for me.

QUOTE(Fornx @ Nov 21 2010, 04:31 AM) is z4root the easist way to root the phone? any recommendation of lagfix? a link would be helpful as well >.< Added on November 21, 2010, 4:37 amim planning to install z4root to root first froyo... then install ryanZA oclf for lagfix... is the sequence correct? compared to stock froyo .. is the speed VERY significant? Added on November 21, 2010, 4:38 amusing those methods above, is 3 buttons recovery needed? i dun thk my phone comes with it Yes the sequence is correct. OCLF made a big improvement for me on eclair but on froyo not really, apart from the higher quadrant score. I actually feel the phone is snappier without oclf when on froyo. QUOTE(adliazaddin @ Nov 21 2010, 10:05 AM) bro... im not sure about launcher........ but when i plug my usb and select kies mode... the mtp application starts... and quit... starts again.... and quit again..... MTP keeps flashing on and off cause of a file that is over 16 characters (thats what i read) Format your internal sd and it will stop flashing next time. @mengsuan why do you say dont use z4mod? I used it and had no problems. This post has been edited by jangyelo: Nov 21 2010, 10:25 AM
