I managed to do GPS tests.

First test on the road but the video is too big to be uploaded (what to do... I've only 0.35mbps). SGS vs Papago PND. SGS lock and accurately move on the map. I won't say a complete test coz SGS using Google Map & not a real navigational software.

Second test is using GPS Toolbox from market and compared with Papago. "Use wireless network" location function has been disabled on both phone for this trial.

SGS & Wildfire & Papago.

SGS sometimes will lose signal and I have to move near the window to get it lock again but Wildfire did not face the same issue. Both locking time to sat. is same. Sadly, I've sold off my Desire, if not the test will be better.

All devices giving different values in lat., long. and altitude. Wildfire locked to all 8 sat. but SGS only 4 of 7. Bearing reading cannot confirm as Papago does not have this info, bearing reading can only be obtained when moving.

Read A2SD. It's something that our SGS don't really need. Anyway, I haven't even used a memory card so far. I don't see the need to get one yet.

I believe you should know about 3e recovery in Froyo. Old method cannot be used. Kernel have to be patched to root.
*
Yeah, only useful when you have 512MB rom like Desire. Since I got SGS, hentam sajer kat maner nak install.

ding dong...nobody answer my question?zzzz
ps:what i heard about SGS vs Desire is sgs is just S.AMOLED better than desire..OS stability desire win 9 roads...sorry if u feel offended...just asking.
*
I used to have Desire before switching to SGS. I would say, yes for the Desire polished firmware. The HTC Sense integration, widgets are good and better out of box experience but...

1. It only support two fingers. My Altair always jump too late or drop too far biggrin.gif
2. Not having a 3D engine or not a fast one.
3. Can only play video at 800x480 max at 800KB bitrate smoothly, so I've to encode a lot of my videos. In SGS, I have a 1280x720 video at 2000KB bitrate and Rockplayer can run it with hardware decoder.
4. Sent it twice to service center in a month and god damn they cannot fix it (this might be my lemon unit only).
5. If you having a fat fingers, it's hard to move around the cursor when you're typing. That is why it has optical trackball.

dan lain-lain lagi. Cannot remember but enough for me to switch to other phone.....

------------
Just updated to Froyo. Apart from the difference listed here, I noticed that...

1. The external sd mount point has changed from /mnt/sdcard/sd to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd (After factory reset)
2. The is no way to switch off geo tagging in camera application. It will switch on the GPS whenever using the camera or did I miss something here.
3. A few apps missing in Samsung Apps
4. GPS have a new setting called "use sensor aiding" not sure the effectiveness

I changed to static wallpaper. Suddenly got back the Eclair smoothness on user interface. Looks like Live wallpaper is taxing up the CPU when Froyo itself is slightly heavier.
*
Can share any good website portal that have high quality static wallpapers?

Download Zedge from the market. It has a large collection of static wallpapers for you to download, and ringtones too.

Thanks.

One more thing. Kies requires TouchWiz to work. It won't work on other home screen app.

Anyone with Malaysian set, kindly share your csc sales code. Mine is Singtel unit, it shown SIN. I could not find a complete csc list from the net.

Maxis is XME.

Singtel has SIN as well as XSO.

Unbranded Singapore unit: XSP
*
Now, the big question. Can I change the code?

------------

Silly me... just found the list from XDA biggrin.gif Anyway, any major impact if I change it?

XSP then. After removing Singtel customization, you will get to see the real boot up screen.

Thanks for the tip. I chose XME then since I'm using Maxis. Auto APN setting. Anyway, the Singtel Ideas startup / shutdown page and apps were removed... yeahhhh rclxms.gif

I faced DC when downloading the firmware (after 44 mins.), Reconnect and it download again from start.... another 1 hour. The file is roughly around 250MB - 300MB judging from my download data graph (can get the exact total coz I'm also surfed the net during the process).
